Welcome back! In this video I headed out to Spain to take a look at a small Spanish town called Santa Susanna. With a population of just 3,400 people, it is a small town that offers a nice amount of exploration. We spent 4 nights at a H Top hotel, the H Top Royal Sun Hotel. The front entrance faces right out to the promenade with immediate access on the beach, Santa Susanna offers over 2 kilometres of golden sandy beaches. Be warned, these beaches do have coarser grains so some flip flops would be a good idea!
On day 1 we arrived very late, we didn't arrive at the hotel until 9:30pm, so unfortunately missed all the food for the day. We had a couple of all inclusive cokes and went to the bed after a long day of travelling. We flew from Manchester airport with Vueling airlines. Landing into Barcelona airport and took a coach transfer shuttle directly to Santa Susanna and our hotel. Worth mentioning, Girona airport is only 20km away, in comparison to BCN airport with is 60km away, but unfortunately we were unable to get flights on the days that suited us. So check out Girona to fly in to as well!
Day 2 we woke up nice and early and got the holiday started. Enjoyed a nice breakfast, then headed out on a walk to the local shops and tourist gift stores. We discovered a lot of the usual tourist shops selling the same stuff; magnets, bracelets, hoodies, shoes, swimming stuff, t-shirts, dream catchers, fans and more. But there was definitely a great selection! Then we had a good look through a locals market too.
Day 3 we visited Carrefour at the local shopping centre. As well as discovering a brand of what we know as Poundland, call Pepco in Spain. Then we took a ride on the Spanish Tren-Train Santa Susanna Express. This is a 45 minute train journey that takes you on a ride around the town, as well as showing off some incredible views and houses in the Santa Susanna mountains. Trains run pretty much all day every day, you can get out for a nice sunrise journey, or even get up to the mountains and enjoy a beautiful sunset view over the Mediterranean sea. Then we spent the rest of the day visiting the beach and pool, and having some drinks in and around the resort.
Day 4 we continued to explore, visited a local restaurant for breakfast and embraced some beautiful hot weather by sunbathing next to the pool, then going for another dip in the sea. Before unfortunately having to have a very early night as our coach shuttle transfer was picking us up at 2:55am on the last day. For our flight leaving Barcelona airport at 7:20am, again with Vueling.
I booked with Loveholidays.com for this trip and give you a full rundown of the lessons I learned and mistakes we made. Learn from this video and my errors, to how you can get the best value for money holiday.
We booked our coach transfers with Hoppa.com who offered the best priced transfers I could find. Plus, a super reliable company I have used many times in the past for my trips.
