This is so relatable!! I played all kinds of sports growing up, but when I started college, I stopped exercising altogether. I also didn't enjoy what I was studying and became really depressed. After two years of suffering, I decided that I needed a change. I started playing volleyball in a gym near my house, and luckily for me, I loved it! Just a couple of months later, I watched Haikyuu!!, which got me even more hooked on the sport. Volleyball helped me rediscover my love for sports to the point where I dropped out of college, became a sports technician, delved deeply into learning about the body itself, and four years later, became a physical therapist. I can say for sure that having a hobby is so worth it. I'd have never thought that an anime about a bunch of high school boys playing volleyball would have such a great impact on my life. I'm so happy I started playing volleyball! :)

Oh, I get you on so many levels. For me, it was a bit the other way around, though. I got introduced to Baseball through my uncle. He took me and my older siblings on a trip to Japan once. We saw a Baseball game there and it was SOO cool. Like, damn, Western Sports fans have nothing on that! And then my bro bought a baseball, bat and glove set and we kept playing. Then we came to school, and were able to obt for one sport that we would play for the whole semester. I can relate to this! I started playing vb when I was sixteen because of Haikyuu, before I didn't have any interest in sports at all! I've been playing in a club and school/uni for four years now, since two years 3-4 times a week pretty consistently. It has benefitted my mental and physical health in a lot of ways, and gave me great experiences that I'll cherish forever. It's also crazy how all of this turned into a routine - I don't even think about whether I go to training or not, and if I can't go, something is missing and I'm sad XD. Volleyball has also peaked my interests in other sports, which is kinda cool. Also, Coach Donny is the best!

I've always told people that I got inspired by the game from watching someone spike as I thought the game was just professional hot potato. But I know the truth; it was Haikyuu.. I started using some home gym stuff, got obsessed with it, and begun playing after COVID. Now I am on my college team playing as sometimes a Setter, Opposite, or Libero. I can relate about the whole serving part for two years, it was me but against a wall, chipping the skin off of a cheap Volleyball I bought, but I don't regret it at all, I had no sports experience beforehand and it helped me develop my arm swing from basically shot putting the serve to reaching. Fun stuff, fond memories and still a long way to go.

Literally same. I’ve started to play volleyball about 11 months ago. I got into it from Haikyu, but I also played it a little before with relatives. There wasn’t a team around the small town where I lived but 1 and 1/2 years ago some guys from my school managed to get trainers together and form a volleyball team. I am so obsessed with volleyball that I would play it every day of the week (If I could) and I always look forward to training on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I plan to continue getting better and playing volleyball but I have a long way to go. At least I can now do consistent and also accurate jump serves, my spikes are okay now and my receives are a bit better. I’m still working on learning a jump serve I can put all my power behind but that needs practice. In short, I loved your video I relate a ton to it, and wish you a good time improving at Volleyball! Hope you‘re having a great day.

I started volleyball 4 years ago because of haikyu and I have gotten better and better, i have gone to Bendigo for indoor state, and then outdoor state the same year, and now this year, I'm going back to Bendigo to play for state again this year! I think that haikyu has affected my life verry positively. I think that this proves that with hard work and passion, you can become better than you think. and that goes for other stuff Aswell.

seeing stuff like this make me realize how lucky i am to have something like a sport that i'm really good at. i do want to try other things and am kinda tied down by it, but maybe in the future i can try something new like this :D

I started playing volleyball because a colleague told me to watch haikyuu about 3 months ago, and the truth is that I didn't want to watch the season of the match against inarizaki, but when I did I immediately started training at home, doing pushups, legs, jumps.... Using fly high and the song played by the inarizaki school band as a soundtrack. In June I signed up for recreational volleyball classes as soon as I got paid. Since then I feel genuinely complete, and your video made me feel so identified, I've only been here for a short time, but I haven't felt this feeling for a long time. Very good video, thank you very much for sharing your story. Greetings from Argentina, De Cecco's land

This happened to me too. I've been going to casual meetups for years now, going through the mental and physical grind, and it's been worth it. It's such a blast. Do wish I had a friend group for this hobby though...

speaking as someone who loves volleyball, i’m so happy people just love it, it’s seriously the coolest sport and i cannot get enough of jump serving and hitting, genuinely my dopamine highlights of my week. been putting off haikyuu for 2 years bc i’m bad at watching shows 💀 but i’ll start it eventually. seriously tho, if you’re reading this and don’t play volleyball, TRY IT it changes your life and drives you to do better in everything

My father put me on a volleyball training when i’m 10 yo. And I just got hooked by the sport. Watching Haikyuu when I’m 29yo just make me cry a lot of times. And that quote you put on your video was that hit me harder! The feeling when you do a crucial point in a match is crazy and you never forget!

sooo relatable i just watched haikyuu and now i want to play

it's crazy how relatable this is from how i experienced falling in love with volleyball but what hooked me on volleyball wasn't getting that one jump serve that was super sick, it was digging a really hard driven spike and perfectly passing it to my setter. after that i instantly fell in love with the game even more and wanted to play every chance i got. i still want to play every chance i get but balancing life with volleyball is important. great video, definitely subbing.

This is so true 😂 I was on the varsity volleyball team in my senior year and the only thing that got me motivated to play (considering we lost basically every game but one) was the first season of Haikyuu, flash forward and I won with my team in co-ed intramurals in my third year of college-it really kept me going! I also got into watching Japan’s men’s VB team, which helped me with understanding formation better. Hope that one day I could meet or watch them in person!

As a long time volleyball player before the anime came out I'm so happy it did. It brought so much attention for the sport I love to play!

Cant say how relatable this is but i didnt start due to anime i started to play it by seeing others play it in my childhood.

awwwww yea... I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who got into Haikyuu!! and ended up obsessing over volleyball. Aaaand having it be one of the biggest things that got me through some dark times.

I got the same thing with volleyball too. I cant play at all, and have no friends, so I have to actively pull myself away from watching content about volleyball because I will otherwise just be depressed. I am in the unique position that I can relate to your feeling EXACTLY. i am glad you were able to live out the vball fans dream. Good job man :D

Played soccer all my life and 4 years ago I watched Haikyuu and thats when my volleyball story began. Now I travel around to play tournaments and meet new people. Crazy how anime influences you!

How the hell are you so relative man. I binge watched it in a week and man before i never even touched the ball, but after watching it, i just bought a volleyball and started practicing at school. Although this might be my last yr in school, im glad i could make it memorable. Watching volleyball on yt and thinking im on my way to becoming a pro is just so fascinating. Keep up the gud work.

I literally did everything you did when I first got into volleyball. It's so frustrating being the only volleyball player around

haikyuu got me into volleyball too, i became a 3 year starter and ended up with 2 MVP trophies and 1 most improved trophy and my senior year took my team to districts for the first time in almost 16 years and ended my senior year off with around 200 plus kills. one of the hardest sports i’ve ever played for sure

I relate almost exactly to this. I had similar hobbies to you with few to get me out in the world. 2 years ago I picked up Billiards because I'd enjoyed it in the past and thought it'd be fun to join a league. Last week my team won our division playoffs, thanks in part to me crushing my opponent, and it's now hard for me to NOT talk about it. I'm so hooked. Just wait until you notice yourself making plays you only dreamt about when you started, they'll make you cry tears of joy.

This is literally so relatable I am getting worried, especially the part when you said you got depressed whenever you couldn't go to your Sunday volleyball, because the same thing happens to me when I cant go to my Monday volleyball. What else is funny is I started to go to the gym because of volleyball. Great video!!!
