The MK6 2 door is unique simply because the rear side window has its own shape. The curve at the bottom combined with the C pillar gives it that unique look. The MK6 2 door is the best look of all GTI’s even over the new 2022 R. And I have a 2012 2 door MK6 GTI black. The shit.

Yup, I'm glad I purchased my mk6. They have become more rare. I couldn't find any KZbin videos of it in 2015 when I first purchased it. Surprisingly owners are making videos of it starting 2020 Manual handbrake goes a long ways for me lol.

I have a 2012 R Stage 2+ as well... gotta wonder why I consider my Fiat 500 Abarth more fun to drive at stage 1 Some info about the exhaust... The exhaust was actually a rebadge by APR. APR teamed up with Corsa Exhaust in Berea, Ohio USA to the APR RSC exhaust and downpipe. If you call Corsa, you can still buy this exhaust brand new today. My R was used to test fit the exhaust back in August 2012.

@@HandsomeTroll I prefer the abarth personally. The R is a nice upgrade with all the creature comforts and has far more support as far as hp gains. To me, the R was just boring because it was floor it and that's it. it went straight, didn't throw me back in the seat. My 500 at least, the pull is way harder. Could far more easily upgrade the turbo on the abarth to a TD04 or larger garret turbo (especially if you're T-Jet and not the US MultiAir) and get a better power to weight ratio than the R has with stock turbo

Beautiful! I'm original owner of a 2012 Mk6 R with 25k miles on it, blue, super rare loaded 2-door (few in the USA), APR stage 2 and have to agree they are the most beautiful of the Rs, especially in Rising Blue, just a lovely color!

@@JustinStrife That's one of the things I LOVE about my R!!! I detest 4-doors or 2 pedals unless it's a big a$$ truck towing my race car, enclosed trailer or ginormous 5th wheel RV. I would consider a Mk2 Audi TT-RS with the dual clutch only because it's a genuinely amazing car with brutal acceleration; I'm sure it would be a total beast on the track! My R is good on the track but it's a brick, albeit a quick brick. It's quite a challenge, too. I'd love a Mk8 R but only IF it was a 2-door. I'm looking at adding a Porsche GT4 or Cayman GTS 4.0 later this year but may get the TT-RS instead. Right now we travel full-time in our 5th wheel RV (sold our house last year) and the two pretty German girls are tucked away in a non-descript, climate controlled storage warehouse until we buy/build a new house. Including 2 supercharged corvettes, twin turbo rx7, s2000, sr20 240sx, and a cammed 5.0 mustang. But with traffic here in California, it gets old. As a 2nd car it's still great though.

@@JustinStrife UGH, I can't imagine! We just bought a house on the top of a mountain and the closest town in 15 miles away. We had to drive into a major city to visit a Dr and it was total brain damage, especially driving a Ford F350 Diesel dually. I think I'm now big city traffic feral. Unfortunately the 1.3 mile gavel road and our 1/5 mile steep gravel driveway are too rough for my R so it's still in storage 1700 miles away. I have get something that has clearance and is AWD so I'm looking at an SUV. I hate 4-doors and 2-pedals but I love our new home. Still keeping the R and we'll have our driveway regraded and regraveled and get after the county to do the same on their section of road. BTW, great list of cars! The S2000 and RX7 are both great cars! I've seen some S2000 at AXs and they're absolutely planted and quick!

You and me both. It's why I bought an Autobahn Edition Mk6 GTI(I couldn't quite swing the R at the time). A year later, I added a K04 turbo, FMIC and coilovers for what the difference between the GTI and R were at the time I bought it. lol Oh well.

I got a manual like yours with the wingback seats, don't sell the car, I certainly want to hold on to mine as long as possible. P.S go big turbo with a few extra bits and some internal upgrades, more fuel you can easily break the 450 bhp mark. Here in SA there's a daily driven mk6 pushing 600 Kilowatts.

regular MK6 GTI has the TSI engine but the R and GTI Edition 35 have the TFSI engine with the KO4 turbo that is also in the MK5 GTI Edition 30 R-Tech are the masters of converting the regular KO3 to KO4 and remaps, tuning for the TFSI

Lovely mk6 pal but the mk7 make way more than 20bhp more stage 2 ... I had Rtech stage 1 map my mk7 in November and it made 394bhp and 407lb/ft. Stage 2 will be leagues ahead .. I still prefer the looks of the MK6 😍

Mk6 golf gti has a different engine to mk5gti &mk6 golf r It runs tsi gen1 engine don’t need to bother with hpfp fueling mods etc like tsfi engine.
