Star Wars Battlefront 2 was a mess when it launched in 2017. So looking at the game now in 2024 is it still fun to play, because this Star Wars game was almost perfect. Well, that's what I tried to find out in this video. From game modes to mods I tried to figure out if you should play Battlefront 2 again today.

I played well over 50 hours of this game when it first came out and I still find myself coming back to it. What do think about what happened to Battlefront 2?

pretty much what you said at the beggining. CONTROVERSY at the very start of a game can kill it but being a GOOD game will keep it alive. and like you said they FINALLY got to a point where it was PERFECT, now they can continue on the promises they made and have tons of... wait, oh, they are done with the game because it didnt produce enough money? yeah, yeah that sounds about right. Ultimately EA is a company that has to make money. Passion projects don't make as much money as making a new more appealing game. So, out with the old, in with the new. I'm sure the devs who finally got tit to a working state were like "COOL, DAMN, we got it now let's .... EA is tellin us to stop...... FUUUUUU!!!!!!!!" it's just one of those things we see time and time again. That's why i have little to no hope for AAA titles. indie games are the only hope i see.

The art team that did battlefront2 and battlefield1 is crazy, the way they use texture from actual photo of the actual place make the game look beautiful,even 3 graphic gen later.

As someone who comes back to this game all the time, I definitely recommend playing during one of the weekly events: Monday: Fast Spawn Wednesday: Triple XP Friday: Cheaper Reinforcements Saturday/Sunday: Double XP Games are usually much more populated on wednesdays.

I was never really a big Star Wars fan but I remember playing the hell out of the 2005 release that we rented from a Blockbuster. It was disappointing to hear on launch about that lootbox fiasco and I was glad they fixed it, however it never changed the fact that I had no interest in the game. While I am glad to hear there is a community of players still grinding it out, I think the prerequisites of getting into a lobby and being good enough with your loadouts compared to the rest of the community only hurts the playerbase. Another great video, and I'm glad to see you back!

It makes me so sad that this is the state of the game. I remember booting this up on my ps4 in 2019 and loving every second and raging at people who would hog the heros. I want that again, but of course, EA has to ruin everything it touches.

I still remember when supremacy first came out matches literally hours, my longest match was almost 3 hours like 2h 50m I was about to quit if we didn't get the objective.

Man those supremacy games were the shit. Those ones where it's so ridiculously even it goes from barely winning the ground stage to making a small dent in the capital ship objective then back to the ground for the same thing to happen but the other way around and then over and over, until the last objective is finally destroyed 2 hours later. Everyone has 100-200 kills except for some random max level bossk with 748 who hasn't died once. Especially fun when you're playing with friends and you run around as a 4 squad of commandos wiping out objectives and melting sabre spammers

Ewok Hunt is still the most haunting and bone chilling thing I’ve ever played. Forget about any ps2 horror classic.. this is where true horror lies Edit: Last time I played BF2 was in 2020 during the little hype wave it had (there was an even bigger one in 2021). Some of the best moments in multiplayer gaming I had were in this game. I remember one heroes v villains match where I initiated armistice an enemy player and then we got everyone else to stop fighting and just did some fun shit for the rest of the match. Good times

That guy wasn’t hacking haha. He was using the ARC Trooper’s power blast, which works the same way as Leia’s secondary fire. Both have heat seeking/aim assist capabilities. Sniping is insane.

This game still has a healthy population on Xbox, full of both new and veteran players. You can find a game of pretty much any mode in a short amount of time. You might run into the same few MAX level players but they’re usually confined to just one mode. The hero modes are really toxic and I wouldn’t recommend them to new players, but it can be a fun challenge on occasion.

The ARC in the beginning who was "hacking" actually just used a glitch that many (mainly specialist class) use to get above the map and shoot from there. Some bozo in the comments said that it was "the ability" (idk why that comment pissed me off, sorry), but yeah... Now you know! Love the video btw

The multiplayer is sweaty but that doesn't mean its not worth putting in the time to really get into it. It took some time to learn pvp skills but im telling you once you're a droidika or arc trooper helping your team destroy the enemies ship as the timer is just about to run out can be some of the most satisfying experiences you can get in a starwars game to date. I wouldn't write off supremacy so quick when its clearly the most populated mode for a reason

He’s not hacking the secondary fire for the arc trooper is completely busted, you can sit in the back of the map and spam secondary fire and it will lock on to someone it really only works on geonosis though.

That wasn’t a hacker haha 😭 that was either Leia or an arc trooper spamming secondary fire from the last objective before that point on top of a cliff . It’s fun to do with a group, the secondary fire locks onto infantry and vehicles making it op to just shoot off into the distance where you know there’s fighting it’s hilarious but probably sucks on the other end lmao

Galactic Assault is my favorite gamemode, but it does have a lot of variance in quality. For one, you can't filter by era, which means you have an equal chance of getting one of the Prequel or OT era maps, which all have their own flaws, or the atrocious sequel era maps, which have many many many more flaws. On top of that some maps are pretty much a guaranteed win to one side, which is usually the defenders, but not always. For example, I've never seen the Empire win on Yavin 4, or the Rebels win on the Death Star II. And on top of that, both Supremacy and Galactic Assault have a huge toxicity problem with the chat. To the point I recommend just completely hiding the chat window, especially if you're recording or streaming the game. There's just too many slurs that get thrown around.

On Playstation the game is thriving. I have consistently found matches in every mode, every once in a while its harder to get a mode, but its usually pretty good, woyld reccomend for playstation.

Battlefront 2 is way too focused on heroes and elites for me find fun. I expect Battlefront to play like Battlefield's amazing large infantry battles but instead it's just tiny 20v20 battles with shallow infantry combat and almost half of the server playing as overpowered hero characters that one shot you whenever you spawn. It's not fun.

It's an ok game. The factions aren't balanced which spoils the game. Also, they make no effort to at least try and evenly match teams. However, when teams are evenly matched you can have some epic battles despite the faction imbalance.

I bought an original Xbox One in ... holy shit ... 2014? Because of things like Game Pass, I've only bought a handful of games in that time. This and the first Battlefront are two of them. With the original BF, I actually bought the DLC as well. So, they could very easily have expanded the game and made money from it.

For me it also sometimes does the “can’t connect” I usually just keep clicking reconnect at the top or restart and relogin to EA to get it to work as well. It’s a pain in the ass but hopefully that helps gamer.

I quit playing after they discontinued it after leaving us with an update that added things we didnt ask for. We almost had ahsoka and padme, being recycled for the isb agent. Her run being ahsoka's run animation and the face model was padme's. They lwft this game for a shitty battlefield that doesnt even work The fact the sequel trilogy supremacy has no players doesnt surprise me. Fighting first order rocket troopers was no fun. They just fly and spam rockets. If the first order board your ship its game over cause rocket troopers spam. It was annoying you lose in seconds cause rocket troopers spam the objective until its health is zero. Its so annoying and unfun. No balance whatsoever.
