Oblivion has a lot of weird aspects but today we are looking at possibly the strangest, the statues that are in fact NPCs. For some reason. Check out my social pages! TWITTER: / thecantinach

I play skyrim heavily modded, that's no secret back in the days i played oldrim, I had a playerhome with mannequins, and for some reason they bugged out... in the most horrible way First, they would start spawning wherever i fast travelled, I DONT KNOW WHY. I'd fast travel somewhere random or enter a place and BAM, there'd be a mannequin standing there, frozen, completely out of place then i started seeing the mannequins in weird poses and off their places in my home but oo boy, it gets worse at one point, not only my mannequins became alive, they also became HOSTILE. I don't know why, I swear i didnt do it, i dont know what caused it, but they started chasing me around my own home and punching me to death, and my attacks would just phase through them! it was a literal nightmare, they would also pop up randomly around the world when i travelled and just harrass me with their invencibility and punches sadly, back then i wasnt so good at console commands as now, now i'd probably fix it pretty quick, i don't remember what i did back then but i think i ended up abandoning that savegame.

Looking back this makes perfect sense. We know that powerful entities in TES manifest in symbols/constructs and all the Daedric shrines are actually megaphones. Plus the Night Mother in the DB late questline. I'm probably blanking on others too.

I get game developers need to make things easier for themselves when possible, but could they not have just copied the 3D model but set it as an object?
@gabrielfraser21095 жыл бұрын
@@DeathnoteBB Far more complicated than just using an NPC. A much better implementation of this principle is the train in Fallout 3 - instead of coding an entire fucking vehicle class for a game that only has this one vehicle, they just gave an NPC a train-shaped hat and had him run under the tracks.

@@DeathnoteBB because then they would need to code for every potential armor and look possible for the statue, it would be easier at that point to have no statue

@@DeathnoteBB Hell no. They'd either need to make a code that can accurately copy and arrange the assets that make up your equipment and fit it onto probably a mesh that doesn't look anything like your character or they'd need to hand craft thousands of statics that have all of the possible appearance combinations in the game.

Yeah, so I remember that some time ago I played the Dragonborn DLC and got the Severin Manor. There are several mannequins there... I was just putting some stuff in that chest right by the bed legs, and then I turned around... and the freaking mannequin stood right behind me. I don't usually scream while playing games, but hey, Skyrim is not supposed to be a horror game... so you can imagine my reaction. :D Thank you for this video. :)

They should have made a weeping angels themed quest with the mannequins in Skyrim. 'If you can't make the bug go away, make it into a feature.'
