This Storm Could've Added $100k To Our Crop!!

Rain is a beautiful thing! But timely rain is even better. A half inch rain in later June would easily have added 5 bushels an acre to our wheat. Times that by 5000 spring wheat acres and then by $5 a bushel and you've got $125,000 worth of added crop. This doesn't include peas, lentils, or winter wheat!
Make sure to go download the FieldOps app to your phone and start taking advantage of it's amazing features!

You guys are all the best kind of farmers, bar none. I used to farm in Manitoba Canada, i am now 85 and miss it, you guys make those feelings go away. My nephews are farming the family farm today, they run a new John Deere x9 on tracks they hit a new high yield on oats, get this 180 bushels per acre. Keep up the good work, your year of perfect rain will come, and then yields will scare you. Enjoy the harvest, i also recall 8 or 9 bushel hard wheat. Farming is still the greatest way to make a living. I think your dad is the greatest dad, you guys could have. Take care. =Doug

Scott, I believe that this life is not made to be easy. God wants us to turn to him. My Dad was a farmer and was hailed out five years in a row. He was thinking about quitting farming. He stuck it out and things turned around. He still had hail storms and some year's without a crop. I believe it made his faith stronger. I always remember Job. Love your videos and drone shot.

Walker’s, I’m so sorry for your low yielding crops this year. At the end of last year I started praying to God that you would get rain this year and have bountiful crops. As Scott alluded to, God is putting many of us to the test, you all for lack of rain, and myself as I’ve been unemployed since the end of June. I will continue to pray, as I know he has something great for us and hears and answers our prayers. God Bless all of you!

Thanks for another interesting and informative and helpful in understanding video. Wow. Not so easy times. First: you all talked about the rains. Appreciate the way you addressed the difference in your rains and soils compared to the Midwest soils and rains. Huge difference in the affect it has on crop production in both areas. Most interesting. Really sorry you did not get any rains at the right times. Your explanation of that in terms of dollars really hits home. More rain equals more dollars of production from the crops. We sent prayers but just not enough at the right time. Heart breaking 💔. !!!!!! Secondly: the opening video and music was just wonderful; brought tears in terms of what farming the land means in the heart.❤️. Just was so meaningful!!!!!!! Fantastic work Welkers on the video opening. Just AMAZING!!!!!! Ok, talked about the video and rains and dollars and farming at the heart. Now to Scott: Mr Scott appreciate your kind words when you were talking about life struggles and pushing forward in life. Very nice words from the heart Scott!!!!!!! Now to the new 9260 combine and your current machines. Obviously a lot of difference from your description of the capabilities of each. Amazing what technology can do in a short period of time. You talked about the 9260 doing forty acres in an hour where it would take both of yours to do that. Believe that is the way you said it. Amazing difference!!!!!! Too bad it takes dollars to upgrade, hard on the pocket book!!!!!!! Amazing machines. Sorry the hail got part of your crops. Hopefully the insurance adjuster will give you some good news in terms of relief. Weather can really be hard on farming. I remember one year in the eighties where our corn and soybeans were just beautiful and a sudden hail storm virtually took it all; nothing left to combine; we just ran a disk over it and got what insurance could do for us. Heartbreaking!!!!!! Well, think that about covers it. Lot to talk about in this video. Bottom line; you all hang in there. What you are producing is manageable, just need more of it. Sending prayers your way!!!!! My blessings to all of you.!!!!!! I know the Welkers will care for the land and their families and working through the not so easy farm times. I totally believe in the Welkers and their beliefs in farming the land. May God watch over you ALL!!!!!’ The Iowa farm boy. Steve. 😊👍🙏🙏💕💕🇺🇸🇺🇸 PS. Thanks to Bob for explaining and showing us the early lands where the land cannot be used. The older family history is so interesting. Thanks Bob for sharing that with us. Steve. 😊

I grew up in a Commercial fishing family and I know the hardships that are overlooked, ignored or otherwise simply untold. Iv lost so many family and friends to the sea and for us boom and bust are Extreme because our boats hold 5 to 6 crew and sometimes family members as well and when one sinks it can be a great tragedy. When we have a bad season that's a lot of people hurt as well. Fighting to protect our native salmon runs and stop the invasive Canadian Atlantic Salmon that are becoming a real threat to much of the Pacific eco system is tough because our fight is nearly untold as well. From me and mine we pray for you all. Thanks for sharing. Bless and be well.

I was drawn in my the big equipment and stayed for the Welkers. The farm I grew up on had a Case 400, Case 800, Case 830, Case 1175 and the big boy was a Case 1370. They had a Case 600 combine with I believe was a 12 foot grain head and a late 70’s Massey Ferguson Combine with I believe a 14 or 16 foot grain header and a 4 row corn header. There was nothing quick change about them. It would take about 30-45 minutes to change the header then another hour or so to manually change out all the settings in the back to open everything up more for corn vs soybeans. We always waited until beans were close to being done to swap the Massey over to corn. One of your current combines could probably doin an hour what the 2 combines we had could do in a day.

We have smaller equipment than you guys do but we have a 7120 case and we were running a 1660 beside it for the past 10 years and that 1660 would maybe do 1/3 of what the 7120 does, this year i picked up a 2188 to replace the 1660 and wow what a difference that has made in our harvest progress, that 2188 can do at least double what that 1660 did in a day. Bigger equipment is always nicer even if its old bigger equipment haha. Love the videos!

Talking about inland sea Bob. I have a mountain in Colorado I have been to many times that is covered with sea shells. It sits at 10,300 feet. I hunted it in 2017 and just this year, I brought my kids and wife out there. I told the kids as we were picking up sea shells that they had 2-3million year old shells in their hands. Minds were blown. A wild world we live in
