I brought Mom down to get spayed and to be put up for adoption. I dropped her off, drove home, and turned right back around and waited until "Precious" came out of the surgical recoveryt room. She stayed with me for the next 8 years and 4 months until it was her time. Such a gift to be chosen.

Great story, Thank You for sharing… I will never forget my little cat who choose me instead of his abusive first owner’s. I was so lucky to have him till he was 21 years old! He was only about six months old when he ran away and moved in with me… at the same time the human society went to take the other animals from the previous owners. They were alcoholics who live next door who were witnessed throwing him and leaving another cat to try and heal itself from a serious laceration :( I was so happy to hear they were told they could no longer have any animals in their care! My little black cat was the perfect companion who showed me so much love.

Yeah, my boy was a stray too. One day he just showed up cold and hungry, made himself at home in my garden shed, but he did not come close to us for about two weeks, then he began to come to the door and meaw for food, after a week or so he just walked inside and decided to stay. I have two dogs - a young labrador and an old grumpy poodle, they both reacted to him as if he had always lived here. On the day one, I found him and my poodle sleeping in an a chair by the fireplace, they looked very cozy, hugging each other in their sleep.

I had a stray cat appear one day, when i was about 19. We noticed she was hanging out around the shed a lot and figured well that's fine if she lives there uses it for shelter. Left food out for her even. Then this one night. She kept coming to the door and crying loudly, wanted someone to follow her to the shed. Figured out she was having kittens and wanted someone there for it. It was somewhat late and as cool as it was, we wanted to be in bed, so thinking she was finished we'd leave. She'd be back at the door crying for us to follow. Until all 4 kittens were there. This being late summer, just going on fall. We put a box out there with blankets. Which she quickly took to and appreciated. She was somewhat feral too, and she trusted us because she needed to for her kittens. She surprised me actually when she caught this squirrel and took it to her kittens, the thing was almost as big as she was. As they grew up they needed a bigger box. And then once we thought it seemed too cold for them and because they seemed big enough now, we brought them all inside to the basement. Mother cat was nervous but she seemed to understand it. Anyway we carefully selected 3 close friends to adopt the kittend later on, and we kept one for ourselves. Which turned out to be the best cat i ever had, and he had a long happy life there, loved being outside and watching the yard from on top of the shed. Always respectful, never did anything wrong, i mean this cat only used the litter box if he absolutely had no other choice. Never went in the yard either he was just a great cat in every way. The mother cat ran off eventually. After we took her to the vet so she couldn't have more kittens. She started coming around less before disappearing. But that taught me how pets find you. They pick you however they do it for whatever reason, since then i let them choose me. They know what they're doing.

I think he sensed something, that I needed emotional support to deal with losing my cat who has been with me throughout my whole life. And he too looked for a home to stay. So we adopted eachother. He's extremely clingy, seeks for my company the whole time and won't let me be alone at all. We have such a close bond that he even comes when I call his name, whenever he is outside somewhere doing his cat business. 27 years!?!?!? That sounds absolutely incredible!!! Do you have any secrets to keeping them alive this long????
@flea16832 жыл бұрын
@@everythingtaken19 No, all the others died at more usual ages. Colin the 27 year old was a black and white moggy(street cat) the next oldest which was 15 was another black and white moggy, the other cats were Persians with more selective breeding they died of old age between 12 and 15. It's all genetics.

Please consider adopting a senior pet! One whom would only have a few, precious years with you....as opposed to a kitten. Seniors need homes too! IT is terrible to see a senior cat in a shelter! Their final years should be curled up on a lap or sofa, dreaming of their youth. BE well.
@lauriefreeman32442 жыл бұрын
Your first sentence is also my scenario...over the years, 6 cats, 2 of them were strays. One decided to frequent my back door during the onset of winter and I'd put food and bedding out for her...she was skiddish and wouldn't let me touch her. But one evening terrible blizzard conditions were forecasted so I knew I had to get her inside. I gave her some food and quickly grabbed her up while she was eating, and I took her inside. She decided to stay with me. She was about 16 when she became ill and then I had to put her down. A sweet, beautiful long-haired calico. I miss her much. You're right, cats ARE wonderful pets. Be well dear.

Keep her, she trusted and chose you. I was choosen by a pregnant cat as well on a rainy cold day. She gave birth to three beautiful kittens and all of them have great homes now. I got her spayed and now she stays with me and as I am writing this comment she is beside me, snuggling with me in the blanket. It's truly unreal how much she trusted me with.

The same thing happened to me. But we couldn't let her go, as soon as we found out that she had no owners we decided to adopt her. She gave us the best present during lockdown which is to witness the miracle of life. Two out of 4 kittens are almost ready to be adopted together by a close friend and obviously we are keeping the other two kittens so she can have at least part of her kids with her.

Based on her behavior, I'm gonna guess that she was some irresponsible person's pet, and when they didn't get her spayed and she got pregnant, they dumped her. One of our kitties belonged to someone else at some point, but whoever had him was physically abusive. When he started coming around our place, he was thin as a rail and starved for attention as much as for food. At first, he was super paranoid of feet and had a really hard time with being touched on the tail or side. Over time, he's settled down a whole lot and has no more issues with touch or holding. He's been with us for nearly a decade, now. :)

I got myself into quite the predicament. I am feeding 5 feral cats at work. We just moved to a new building a few miles away. I couldn’t bear the thought of them waiting each morning for no one to show up. So I’ve been leaving earlier to stop by there and feed them. Nobody wants to take them because they’re older now and they’re feral. They only trust me. So not exactly adoptable. Even worse they’re not fixed yet. Sigh…

My cat, who's passed on, had the same markings at this mama cat. When I went to the shelter to pick out a cat, I had singled out 2 kittens, which uncannily, had the same markings as these kittens. A young woman was enamored by the all white kitten, so I ended adopting the tuxedo. Boy I miss him.

I had the same experience It was Winter 2:00 a m 20 degrees out and woke up from the couch and hurried out to walk my pup I see a kitty up the block in front of a building and she is eyeing me with my pup All of a sudden she started romping down the block towards me and sat at my feet rubbing on my legIt was bitter cold so I couldn’t leave her outside She was so tiny I never realized she was pregnant 🦣Two days later my son wakes me. The kitty is on my bed behind me having her kittens Can you imagine Well I was in awe for sure she had 6 babies and all were healthy except an eye infection that came from mama. I gave them antibiotics and thankfully all went well I am happy this woman has a good spirit and did a wonderful thing for her little mama and her babies

This was how we got a bunch of our own cats. 😂 Momma Cat (What we'd named the stray when we saw her belly getting big as a balloon, and it just stuck) adopted us when she got close to popping, and we kept her and her kittens. We'd already had a pet cat who had kittens (this was back decades ago, before spaying and neutering was such a big thing, so we didn't know any better) so we were well prepared to take care of them, and basically hand-raised them with Momma so that by the time they were adults, they had become the most people-loving, affectionate, cuddly cats EVER!
