Later, I learned it was our neighbors kittens but they never let them indoors since the wife was allergic. Apparently, they didn’t feed them much either. Let’s just say I talked to the neighbors after the kittens decided they wanted a nice cozy home with regular meals instead of their previous arrangement. I do not understand people like that. Wtf is going on in their head? I've met some real dumb asses from the guy who thought that he could throw his cat outside to fend for itself to the neighbour who pulled the same thing as your neighbour. The kittens were so precious. Odysseus, a black boy, came through my window & never left. My female had two kittens left, and Ody would suckle from her w/her two babies. He was twice as long, but she accepted him, which helped her when her babies were adopted.

Years ago, I went through a similar situation with a sweet Tortie stray. She was just fur and bones (and nipples) when we met. She'd given birth to, and was living under my neighbors house with her kittens. I asked her to "bring me your babies!" and left my garage door ajar before going to work the next day so she could investigate. When I opened the garage door that evening, I saw ten tiny eyes gleaming back at me from under the garage work bench. All five kittens looked exactly like their mom. She had carried each kitten over a fence, through the yard, and into the garage, one by one. Once the kittens were ready, a friend who owned a pet supplies store helped me with finding good homes for the kittens, but Mama cat stayed with me for many years afterwards. She became pregnant a 2nd time before I could get her spayed and had what I always call "the miracle litter". Each kitten was part Siamese and amazingly gorgeous. I found new homes for two, my mom kept a 2nd, and I kept the remaining two and had them in my home for many years. I currently have four cats who began their lives in the shipping yard where I was working. They were totally feral, but I knew once I left that job nobody else would care for and feed them. I trapped each kitten and had them health checked by my vet. Now, 10 years later, they're still uncomfortable with any outsiders, but have become my family. There's nothing quite as rewarding as earning the trust and love of a needy stray cat.

This is exactly the story of my cat Momma Kat, her kittens Boy and Girl, and me. I left my back door a crack open, shut my back porch door, (between my kitchen and the back porch), and plugged in a heating pad on medium with a double bowl with water and dry food. In three days she was sleeping over! Then one day she carried in two black kittens by the scruff of the neck. But she carried them under the back porch to sleep. After a week she let me sit in front of the washer and dryer as she ate. Finally the kittens came in and after I put a cat door into the garage and moved all the aforementioned stuff in the boy cat was the first to use the cat door. Then the female kitten. And after a week mom figured it out too and all of us, with me in my old recliner chair, basically moved into the garage together. My life is complete. And I park on the street.

Even if you're the best of the best and especially responsible cat owner you need to be educated in their care. They do need caring for, they shouldn't just be left to roam the neighborhoods, especially OT, they need food, quality food. They need their shots, and then their boosters, they need water, clean water every single day. lol, my cat did the same door screen thing! She was sick and skinny, with long matted fur and a tipped ear. She wandered to my back door from a feral cat colony next door. She was so scared, but she also wanted to come inside and get loves. She'd run inside, rub against my leg, but then scare herself and swipe and hiss. I could only get her out of the house by tossing food out the door, since I couldn't touch her without risking sudden attacks. I started calling her Cujo. One day, I come down the hall and turn to the dining room, and she's hanging on the screen door just like Charlie, totally centered right in the middle of it. No clue how long she was waiting like that! Eventually, she let me start touching her without getting sassy, and I got her to the vet to clear up her respiratory infection. Vet said she expected Cujo was 12-15 years old! Once she was well and properly fed, she became a huge lover! She only wanted to be held and just cling to me all the time, with loud purrs and lots of drool lol. I only had her 3 years before she passed, but she may well have been 18 by then. While it can never be forced, sometimes feral cats opt to "retire" into a comfy human home :)

A number of years ago, I began feeding two stray females. Their colouring was very similar, so I assumed that they were sisters. I had no idea where they came from. I live on the rural edges of a small town in a short street, with the highway at one end, farmland at the other and only three houses. None of my neighbours had cats and aside from the two other houses in my street, there are only a handful of other houses within a radius of about 500 metres. One cat was very forward, the other remained skittish, even when they had been around for months. The brave one, whom I named Little Girl, eventually had two litters, and Fluffy had one. It was such an honour when they brought their kittens to meet me each time. Little Girl was the only one who would come inside the house for a few minutes, they were all happy to be outside. The house next door was vacant for a short time, then someone moved in. Eventually I found out why they were so happy to be outside. When I was at work, they all went next door and so they were getting fed twice a day. Here is an interesting example of behaviour. When I walked down my driveway to my mailbox, Little Girl used to walk between my legs. Tiger, the biggest kitten from her first litter, was the one who stayed with me the longest. He had seen what his mother did and suddenly, one day when he was about four years old, he began walking between my legs when I went to get the mail. Dogs are great but I find all cats endlessly fascinating.

Then one day he did, we opened our back door Oliver ran right in our house and 3 years later he is our beautiful 12lb baby boy who runs the show. I believe he chose us. And I’m so happy he did. Around the same time we also rescued a dog from a shelter and her name is Charlie they get along so well it’s just a blessing to have these pets in our lives and we are so grateful every single day that we were given the opportunity to care for them and I think they do more for us than we do for them the joy it’s just nonstop laughter with these 2. every time I leave the house I can’t wait to come home to see my babies.

You need to get her spayed before she has more kittens. Love that you gave her a safe place to call home.

I felt like sharing this. My dog (JJ) is the one who adopted us and the cat(Silver). We met JJ at a rescue event at pet co or something and she would lean on us and follow us around forcing her fosters to follow us as well. We took her home and she has been happy ever since. But the most amazing story was how she returned the favor. One day my dad and JJ were on a walk when she stopped at an area with a fence and construction storage she would not leave. My dad decided to check stuff out and soon a 1 month old kitten came walking out. JJ would not leave without that kitten. We took the kitten home and slowly raised her as the kitten would not have been able survive for long with her mom and siblings as the neighborhood has a road that is terrifying for even humans to be on and many wild animals. We tried to save the family of cats but they left. JJ was super interested in silver yet also was strict on the cat because the kitten didn’t have bite control and still doesn’t but JJ let’s silver know when she’s not happy. Silver has learned how not to piss JJ off as JJ does have some triggers like food (she came form a high kill shelter so probably not a lot of food security). Silver still tries to steal food which is now on her but don’t worry JJ has good food security and lots of love. I have worked to get JJ not to growl at me with her food and now she won’t even care if I’m touching her while she eats she’s very secure around me

We have been feeding a homeless cat for a year now. We discovered she is pregnant yesterday.

If you're feeding her, why wouldn't you have her spayed? I hope you do this after her kittens are weaned, as well as having her vaccinated. Otherwise you'll end up with strays all over the place. Cheaper this way than feeding all those mouths. Good luck 👍 💓

@@ginajennings3822 if you get her spayed now that means aborting the kittens. Why would you suggest that 😕 if she can get near the kittens and stop them from being feral, she may be able to find good homes for them.

@Monique Zientek my minx cat, we didn't know she was pregnant cause she was a abused stray. Tho she was terribly sick after we got her better we found out she was pregnant. After she had her three kittens we got them spayed

Very cool. Our partially wooded yard has become the cat sanctuary for the area. Need to keep an eye out for their needs, food, and shelter.

If you can, contact your local shelter and ask if they can organise a spay, neuter, release program. That way the colony won't grow too big and get out of control. Good luck 👍 💓

I wish that was all I could say. I wrote a book up above, so I doubt many will even read past the very first, short, paragraph. I can't help getting too talky when posting about my pets, or any pet. lol The End.

Now this, this is RESPECT, not those other dumb shorts you will find of TV show moments, those are staged but this this is true respect and it reflects how we humans should treat animals when they truly need out help
