A tip for mirrors is to scuff it before you spray it. The paint flakes off super easily if it doesn't get scuffed at all. I did a mirror for someone and had to buy them a replacement mirror because the paint was just flaking off. They wanted part of the mirror exposed with a galaxy on it. Plastic mirrors are fine but the glass ones are what needs scuffed.

Or a bonding primer, which does come in spray cans. Scuffing will always be a good idea, tho

Mirrors are just glass. The mirror coating is on the backside and doesn't affect the surface being painted on.

Mirrors are just glass. The mirror coating is on the backside, so it doesn't affect the glass front surface being painted on. Cleaning the glass is probably the best thing you can do since surface prep is the most important part of painting.

I don't understand why they would do this, though. If the artist doesn't leave any area unpainted so you can see the mirror, they might as well just paint on an ordinary piece of glass instead.
