I had one of these and liked it. Only major problem I have with it is there is no setting in the bios for instant power in like if you were trying yo use this in an arcade cabinet. You basically have to physically power it on each time you power on cabinet.

Bought all the bits separate shown here but had a problem of no sound..until today. I finally fixed it and it runs perfectly. I’m going to invest in a nice wireless controller with dongle asap as it’s wired up to my TV in the living room and a wired one just won’t cut it.

I’m new to all of this so bare with me guys ,I’ve been wanting to build a bartop arcade for years but have been waiting for something better than “pandora”. Forgive me for my lack of knowledge but would this work well in a bartop? Would joysticks and buttons (working through a usb converter) work with this mini beauty?

This appears to be a custom plug-and-play unit, so it might work, but you'd likely need to do some fiddling to synch it with a bartop's USB encoder. Most of the more common encoders emulate a standard controller. Just my opinion, but there are much cheaper solutions that offer more flexibility - to include a PI4 - and there are pre-made images all over the Internet that are designed to be used with cabinets. The Pi4 won't run Gamecube or PS2, but does very nicely with older systems - up to and including Dreamcast. If you want to run the higher end systems, spend a bit more and get a mini p.c. with a very small footprint that runs Win10 or a Linux variant.

@@empathicparadox6041 I believe most modern encoders support a joystick and up to 12 buttons. If you head over to Amazon and search for "joystick encoder" you should see several options. But again, I can't guarantee they would work with this "super console" device, but most work with other traditional setups that support USB (Raspberry pi, PCs, etc.).

That's an incredible device for retro emulation, but that price!! You could almost buy a PS5 or Xbox Series X (at MSRP) for the same price. Even with scalpers in 2020/2021 you could still buy a used PS4 + Xbox One (both!) for the same price as this.

I'd rather go with anything with an AMD APU over that one. Even my old Zacate machine(2011) would blow that thing out of the water, provided you use hardware acceleration ofc. Almost half of the cost of this one back then. I can't really see a reason to use a mechanical harddrive in this day and age tho.

this mini pc is awesome, WHEN it works, mine just died after 1 month, chuwi usually did not provide repair or servis outside china, actually it was my 4th device from chuwi, ALL died in less then 3 months, so i DO NOT recomend buy this, just save more money and buy some old/used intell NUC, you will not pay too much more and get A LOT of more power

This is a Windows 10 miniPC that had dual boot function in that it can also boot to a Linux OS called Batocera that is tailored for games like in a game console.

i'm using ryzen 5 and gtx970, runs pcsx2 fine at native monitor resolution. My old i7 2.2ghz cpu lags when playing warship gunner 2 at intense battle but not with my current pc. My old pc runs other ps2 games fine tho.

I'm about to try to mod my arcade1ups, and these lil MiniPCs look awesome for that, I'd like to have the MiniPC boot to Batocera, and I'd like to hook up the sticks and buttons to USB encoders to just plug into the MiniPC. Depends what you like to play. For high end stuff we need a PC those have enough power to run Game Cube, PS2, Sega Saturn ect. I'm surprised you had such good luck with PS2 on this device, based on my unsuccessful attempt. A few months ago, I bought the very similar GMK NucBox, which also uses the Intel J4125 & UHD Graphics 600. It had 8GB ram & a SSD built in, so on paper it should outperform this Chuwy. However, Once I booted up in Batocera, i noticed that the internal fan stopped working (I guess it's drivers are only good for Win10) and it got extremely HOT. Also, the very first 3D PS2 game I tried (Lord of the Rings: Two Towers) was crawling along at like 10 fames per MINUTE... it was completely unplayable.

As far a s I understand you will have to mess around in the Settings of the Emulator to get those games running at an acceptable level.

Those games will run on a modern toaster. Find a dirt cheap laptop and install MAME on it and you're good to go.

I find 413.21 € extremely overpriced. Sure, you get tons of emulators and games for them, even on your own hard drive. BUT a lot of things run too slowly with this small processor. And the biggest problem is the heat development with such small mini PCs. I have already had several experiences with such Mini PCs myself, and they usually last 1 year with constant use, sometimes even less, before they die of heat.

Load are slow because it’s and HDD. Upgrade to an SSD and you’ll se the difference in loading times. It’s not because it’s usb. Looks like the mini can run usb 3.00.

If the Batocera OS is in the HDD defintely can just plug and play on any x86 based systems, though many of them likely need to change the boot up settings in the BIOS.
