The Skoda Karoq 2023 model range has been introduced, and it's still one of the most interesting 'right size' SUVs out there.
Not too big, not too small, it could be perfect for you and your family. It has a big boot, a decent size back seat, and plenty of features and amenities, too.
But this Skoda SUV has a few interesting and surprising issues. It misses some of the expected safety technology on this base model Style grade, and some of that tech isn't even available as an option.
And it also asks buyers to spend more than $10,000 on an option pack - about a quarter of the cost of the car - if they want it to feel nice inside.
Was family reviewer Emily Agar impressed? Watch to find out!

The little round hole near the cup holders is to hold the 12v socket plug 😊

The centre rear seat can be removed and the remaining outer rear seats moved closer together to provide more shoulder room. :)

$12,000 “premium pack”? Please give me a break. Let’s call it what it is, a $12,000 price gouge. Car makers can’t make enough cars due to supply chain issues, so they are charging this much to keep profits up. For this much, I’d prefer a top of the range CX5 or Kia Sportage GT.

Unfortunately SKODA Australia pure greed tried to take advantage of Australians by increasing prices by up to 50% during the pandemic shortage while the factory only increased prices by 3%. They also replaced the new 1.5L and DSG with the old 1.4L and torque converter on most Karoq models. Other cash grabs include dropping the new entry level fabia models and only bringing in one montecarlo fabia at $40K! We bought an entry fabia at $17K two years ago. They have also reduced base engine size from 1.5L to 1.0L on Scala and kamiq and dropped standard options such as nav and safety features. Shame the local distributor has trashed a great product line

It's a great car but it has become far too expensive. I didn't go for the removable seats because with the seats the headroom is reduced too much so persons over 6.4 can't find enough headspace.

In Europe the same. Car prices are 50% up in a couple of years. Auto cartel.

This car is absolutely not a value proposition. The rear seat leg room is tight. Skoda market this as a mid size suv but it’s definitely going up against the next size down seltos, qashqui etc. as such, it’s incredibly overpriced

The Kamiq looks like it has better leg room than that

Its a beautiful car but as a new car buyer who had signed a contract for this vehicle in January 2022, I was told to cough up an additional $8,900 as my original contract wasfor a stylrfully optioned with ivory interior. In June, our negotiations failed even though we offered to bare a 5% increase in the cost base. So to cut the story short, when new car buyers are treated in a dismissal way, no matter how the good the car is the dealerships of Skoda will loose genuine customers and should learn from the Japanese and Korean counterparts about customer service. There are beautiful cars in the current market, especially the Ford Vignale with its 2.0l turbo engine paired with an 8 speed automatic which is a peach. So moral of the story, shop around as there are real good cars out there. As every dark cloud has a silver lining, now, I have a far better option than a Karoq. Thank you Skoda for not honoring the contract. Well done you.

The Ford Escape had been withdrawn from our market… congratulations on owing an Orphan with likely poor resale, parts and service.

@@GlowingTube well not too concerned about it. Infact, since the time we have purchased this vehicle, we have not encountered any issues or problems. Unlike my neighbor who purchased a brand new Mitsubishi outlander and had issues with the reversing camera since day one along with road noise the car made and my colleague who purchased a mazda cx5 and his wife complained about getting in and out of the car while he complained about the engine noise due to the compression at low speeds. We infact have no complains and this car is for keeps for the long haul. Sometimes good cars launched during the pandemic often don't get noticed. And then there good cars being manufactured but the dealerships are a let down. Lastly, all manufacturers are required by law to have enough parts for vehicles sold in Australia for 30 years. So you are well covered. Ford Vignale has been simply superb so far with regards to reliability.

Sorry Skoda but for such a price you can keep it. I purchased Karoq with 1.5 TSI 7 speed DSG in 2019 from dealer in Melbourne just for 28K drive away, the new one has not so many changes and older engine, which I had in my Octavia in 2015. I am not sure why such a price hike? Not good value and Skoda was always a car where you got a good value and good quality, but this has changed now. For this money you can buy 1-2 years old premium brand. Skoda will drop the sales with such a price policy now.

Because it has removable seats the sacrifice is less knee space and it’s noticeable

You're right, it also reduces the head space. I didn't buy one with the removable seats and I'm happy I didn't.

Just buy a shorter cable for your phone if it's a problem, plus you can get a two USB adapter for the back seat 12v socket.

I think you forgot to push the seats back that's why you do not have enough space in the back... other reviewers that are 6 feet tall have plenty of room ... unless you are 2 m tall???? ridiculous.

With those specs it's just a waste of electronics chips which are quite rare right now! (Kind of like producing bioethanol in a context of food shortages.)😢😂😢

Say it: Shkoda KaRoq. At least this reviewer said Sskoda KaRoq, not Sskoda Carrok. So far the closest any Australian reviewer I've watched has come to saying it right.
