So happy you got to challenge the äggakaka. I make it for the family now and then, but a 10 egg cake and 400g of stekfläsk (it's basically salted pork belly) is enough to feed four people. Btw, the lingonberry should be prepared by stirring the berries with sugar without heating, until the sugar is melted. Store it in a jar with a cinamon stick for a couple of days, for extra yumminess. If you come to Sweden again, you might like to try the "pitepalt" challenge, which is a very serious competition indeed.

Why Swedes use DL,CL, Kryddmått etc. comes from 1940-50's when the government wanted to build "folkhemmet". With new rules for housing, healthcare, alcohol and so on came also a cookbook called "Vår Kokbok", almost every swede has a copy. it got published with the thought that if we all had kitchens, all hade enough food and we all knew how to cook food, noone would be starving. In that cookbook was with every recipe the exact measures to cook/bake something. There for everone started to use deciliter, centiliter, etc. . and now we all use theese measures in our recipes.

If you ever decide to come back to Sweden I'd recommend checking out Brogrillen, in Upplands-Bro, north of Stockholm. They specialise in "Tunnbrödsrullar", a type of rye bread wrap filled with sausage and mash and some other stuff. I believe they have one challenge wrap with 20 hot dogs in it.

That's about 13, 3 egg omelettes in 23 minutes, as well half a pig sliced on top for good measure. Good challenge, the owners were nice people too!👍

Nope, it's even more. In Äggkaka from Skane there is flower and milk it it as well. He ate about 26 servings, 10k kcal in total with about 500g of protein and 350+ g fat...IN THE BATTER ALONE 😅😅😅 He is such a beast..

@@alexzander2211 I’m finnish, it’s extremely common here too. Doesn’t take very long to pick a bucket full of them and preserving them is easy even to the lazy people as they stay good mushed up in their own juice until the next season. Though I cook them into a jam like most of the people do.

Super friendly folk. I really enjoy local dishes as food challenges. Burgers and pizzas are so pedestrian.
