@@patpat1354 honestly i wondered if anyone would even watch the video long enough to notice Turns out a lot of people noticed that little factoid!

Glad to see the move went well Jake! I haven't watched the whole video yet but I have no doubt this is SX-70 will turn out beautifully, as most of them do! I'm currently out of film, but I'm planning to stock up for the holidays so I can put my lovely SX-70R to work. Its still working perfectly 8 months later, despite some wear and tear from me bringing it to family events. Thanks again for the service!

At last another enjoyable repair video. Back from the dead. Well the SX-70 camera is ! Interesting to see you simple yet effective adjustments to installing the PolaVolt. Hopefully even more customers will now be sending their SX-70 cameras to you. Knowing now that you prefer crusty junk to show off your godlike skills producing awesome beast transformations.

Do you have any funny kangaroo stories? Totally off-topic, but I'm dying to know. How common are kangaroo sightings in the Perth area? Think we could have a live Q&A one day?
@theinstantcameraguy2 ай бұрын
I actually have decent internet now, so this is a possibility! However my workshop is practically a Faraday cage due to the insulation, so I'd have to do the Q&A inside the house until I can be bothered running ethernet in there Kangaroos are effectively Australia's Moose/Deer Everywhere in certain parts. You won't find them in the city, but certainly when you get into the country you will see them

American checking in. My theory on the fraction/decimal confusion -- it was related to the dominance of imperial units back then. Seeing 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, and 1/32 in measurements was the norm for the average Joe. Nobody would call 1/16 of an inch '0.0625 of an inch'. So to be consistent, 0.5 was 1/2. In short, anyone that was not an engineer would expect to see a fraction when a measurement was less than 1. I would think there would be less confusion today because most people (that I know) are familiar with both metric and imperial and are used to using decimals. We're slowly embracing the metric system. Any tool or measuring cup/spoon we buy now has both units of measurement! That or Americans had poor eyesight and couldn't see the '.' between the 1 and 5.
@theinstantcameraguy2 ай бұрын
@@nate_0723 you are correct in both regards. I believe the combination of fractional units and small periods caused too much confusion between 15 feet and 1.5 feet The metric distance scale used on export cameras still featured decimal points, but they were elongated into commas

Would desoldering the two pins, leaving them disconnected and insulating them with tape, work the same way as severing them? 1:07:20

Hey my Polaroid pronto won’t power on. Do you have any tips or suggestions to try to fix it? I’ve already tried to bend the battery contacts.

to be fair none of the cameras were THAT hard to fix The bigger issue was that things kept failing like a chain reaction. I'd fix one thing, only for the next link in the chain to break haha
