I guess Gaijin finally brought that aspect of the game back to something approaching reality. The IS-3 is constantly up against tanks that were specifically designed to destroy it in real life, like the British Conqueror and American M103 (note however that Gaijin still has these at a higher BR than the IS-3 --- 7.7 instead of 7.3). For too long the game has given this tank imaginary survivability against them.

Bro, that pike nose is utter bull. I was with the PLZ-130 the other day and hit that spot twice and got a ricochet both times. The angle has a weird effect on the volumetric calculations that's for sure.

You could not be any more wrong. It’s already a volumetric hell for most things at 6.7, but to bring it down to 6.0 with Tigers 1’s and other US tanks is crazy.

@@Hobsz but it was previoulsy at 7.0 and it was just fine. Now at 7.3 it is facing a ton of stuff that can pen it far too easily. Either that or they need to buff the reload or that stupid front weakspot which is way to easy to exploit.

The sad part is that for the year and the purpose it was made the IS-3 was pretty good (not counting the lack of space for the crew) as a breakthrough heavy WW2 tank, but in Warthunder it really suffers.

Well the reason of the triangle is that you don't have to angle at all

I prefer the Is-2 1944 or the Is-4M over the Is-3 and 6 mainly because they can bounce shots and they are nimble excluding the Is-4 tho 😅 may not have the mobility but you have armor and also I got 5 nukes in about 4 hours of playing as the Is-4 🎉
