GG in game 1! I picked up on the no guard fissure stuff in team preview so I was probably a little too focused on taunting the medicham to prevent it because I really needed to preserve Murkrow to handle dondozo. I was honestly really impressed by midnight form lycanrock.

I love it every time you mention the player that built this team. As soon as you say "brought Geomancy Smeargle to Worlds," I can remember watching one of his matches on stream. If I remember right, he would use Geomancy, then pass the boosts to Mega Salamence with Heart Swap. Such a cool team.

In the context of Geomancy, you’re passing the Geomancy boosts to your partner in exchange for losing them yourself, but since it’s a Smeargle it’s not like it can use the boosts better lol

Funnily enough, last week i tried out a choice scarf midnight lycanroc for a few days as it outsped any nonboosted pokemon and was therefore one shotting bundles and chien paos and chi yus with no guard stone edge before they could move.... got hit with a fissure and got really annoyed at my luck until an hour or so later it clicked that no guard means fissures used against it dont miss 😅

OHKO moves are so interesting to me. They have been around for as long as Pokémon has been around, but rarely used because of their limitations. I actually am really interested to see one being used seriously in this format. Brings up a lot good questions about the randomness of Pokémon.

I was randomly messing around on showdown with the idea that you could skill swap No Guard onto a Fissure mon and it turns out someone else had the same idea. Turns out it is really hard to actually pull off, just having No Guard Stone Edge is pretty powerful, I've thought that Lycanroc Dusk is pretty underrated as a pokemon in general since I got it in a speedrun attempt in a route that uses the Dynamax Adventures to catch a super high level pokemon really early in the game - it basically swept all of Sword & Shield

just wanted to point out, when you were talking at the end about how to improve your turn one of the last game regarding using rock slide vs stone edge. You mentioned that accuracy wasn't a factor so stone edge would've been better since higher chance to crit than flinch, BUT you had just skill swapped away no guard before lycanroc moved. So stone edge might've been the worse move due to lower accuracy, although I'm unsure of the exact math

I think it would be cool if Fissure was guaranteed to fail the first two times, but then always work the third. The successes would still average out to be roughly the same, but it would reward good positioning of bulky mons rather than just playing for a coin flip.

In the last game, I think you’re forgetting that stone edge wasn’t a guaranteed hit because Medicham is faster and took no guard before you attack with lycanroc. For that reason , you actually probably did make the correct play in pressing rock slide although if stone as did hit it would’ve been a k.o. Hard to say
