QOTD - I've got really mixed feelings on this format. On one hand defensive play is a lot better than it had been previously, and it feels like the overall pace of the game has slowed down a bit thanks to the common emphasis on bulk. The ruins also allow for some new strategies that wouldn't work without their abilities, choice specs Dragapult next to Chi-Yu has been a ton of fun. That being said, we only added 4 mons, and things like Walking Wake, Iron Leaves, and the tera raid starters really would be great additions. Walking Wake in particular has a reliable special water move, which after dealing with missing hydro pump since release, I really wish was available

QOTD: Power creep is definitely restricting the meta a bit with the combinations of the 2 offensive ruin mons. Fissure Ting-Lu being so being so dangerous is also quite funny

I really don’t feel that gen 9 has any real “power creep” the most OP mons are from previous generations. Regieleki, Zacian, Mewtwo, Landorus, Incineroar, etc… none of the ruin Pokémon even come close to being as dominant as these mons

I feel like it's easier than ever to create a strong team and to flourish with it, but I feel like it's also one of the most restricting formats we've ever had. You need answers for Dozo still while now also needing answers for the ruin Pokémon and their myriad of combinations, also Flutter Mane. 😅

QOTD: tbh I'm having more fun on the current format compared to the previous SV ones, but if I compared at the same time around during SwSh or even SuMo, I'm having way less fun overall not only battling but also with team building due how some mons were/are way better than anything else (ting-lu, gholdengo on the first format, flutter mane and to a lesser extend iron bundle and dozo combo), and also due how painful is the current grind to change tera types as the meta evolves way faster than you can get enough shards for the type you need the most. Also, I dunno, but I feel lately everything is too focused around stall style of gameplay and imho I think is really boring to play against and to watch. Sorry for the rant.

Seeing an Ursaring in team preview here is really funny because ive actually been considering it myself. Its actually in a really interesting position right now having a new evolution in Legends Arceus thats not currently attainable in Scarlet Violet, but is still considered when it comes to Eviolite. So you can turn its normally mediocre 75/75 defense/special defense into a pretty respectable 112/112. The downside here is that its ability is Guts and since Eviolite means you cant hold a flame orb, you gotta either find some other way to give it a burn. Also its a pure normal type without a particularly amazing movepool so even with those good post-eviolite stats its pretty hard to use.

QOTD: I think I can take another month or two of it. Despite trying, I still find Ting-Lu a pain to deal with, which I'm torn about (it also absolutely detonated a team I'd been workshopping in Showdown and was preparing to build in-game, but that's a me problem). I like a slow metagame, but I get the sense that this thing is single-handedly slowing it down, and I don't like when one poke is so singular. But then again, as a lover of can't-believe-that-works teams, seeing Fissure be functional is great to me. I liked Series 1 & 2 better, I think, but I appreciate that this meta is really changing up my play style.

QOTD: I think the format is very stale. I hate when multiple restricted are allowed because it means 1/3 of everyone's team is going to come from the same pool of a dozen or so Pokemon. Ruin and Paradox Pokemon have basically restricted level stats and abilities and with them both being unrestricted and also only some of them being viable we are in a format where all the meta teams are going to come from mostly the same pool of very few Pokemon and the same few Pokemon that best support them. I can't imagine how stale it will get when we get Restricteds back in.

QOTD: It's gotten very stale to me. Fissure Ting-Lu got old after about the first two games and it's still everywhere. I like that defensive options are more viable than they were but I dislike that they feel very stall-y and very annoying to play against.
