I like to believe Dave just decided social media was no longer for him and chose to move on in his life. That he's out there enjoying life, going on his travels, perhaps focusing on a career or family now. The pandemic changed a lot of people's outlooks and priorities in life, even some huge celebrities and musicians decided to step away from their fans and live like a normal person again. Let's all keep the positive outlook that Dave is still around.

I highly recommend watching his second-to-last video where he opens up about the challenges he's faced, including injuries and the mental toll they've taken on him. It seems he was contemplating a break or even a permanent step back from posting videos. This doesn't definitively explain his current situation, but it may offer some insight into his state of mind before going silent.

@shoqed3 жыл бұрын
As someone who had this kind of thing, I have to say that this is far from a dream. I thought like you that you'd be able to do very specific training at less weight but it's not that awesome. For some skills like rings planche it's not even close to the real thing because it takes away all the balancing. It feels more steady than a floor planche. Hanging weights will swing. This will create wobbly resistance and obsiously you will have to watch out to avoid getting smashed in the face. If you're far from the skill you are trying to mimic, you will end up having to hang a lot of weight, which makes the experience even more terrible. One big thing is the quality of pulleys. You have to have really high end pulleys, preferably on a rotating base, so the rope feeds smoothly. Otherwise you'll be fighting against too much and too little drag all the time. I am, too, guilty of overengineering my training all the time. The fundementals might be boring, but they are fundementals for a reason.
@ladislavzahnas76183 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more. We had it in a gym for gymnasts, it was attached to ceiling 8 meters high but it was still soooo far from perfect. You can't really compare it with normal way of doing these exercises because your center of gravity is slightly shifted and if you try to do some dynamic skills, ropes can get in your way and it could get nasty :D

i built, and have been using, a dream machine for a few months. like you mention, it's great as a cable system. for instance, i'll lay on the floor, load the other side up with weights, and train straight arm lat pull downs. I suppose theoretically you could get a full front lever this way, one day you'll just put enough counterbalance that it'll lift you up (i already find it hard to keep my upper body on the floor,so i have to brace or weight myself down). similarly, when doing planche, you can use this to cut the weight in half, when you get to a certain point though, don't use the rings, and instead toss weights on the end. over time you lower the weights until you're using just your bodyweight. These are much better than resistance bands, i think, because its a linear force, and if you use something like power blocks, you can increment it all gradually.

Can you please write the list of what i would need to buy? Also, how.did.you attach the ropes to the weight belt?
@KungfuFreerunning3 жыл бұрын
@@unknownun1763 buy rope and pulleys, hang it over wherever it is you intend to use it, measure to be visually similar to how theirs is setup and cut the rope so you have 2 of em same length, tie figure 8 knots for securing rope at each end leaving a loop to hook the carabiners into. Remember to leave some extra rope on the end of your measurements for tying the knots. Use the carabiners to hook into a belt/harness on one end of the rope and the other side clips to the rings. You're good to go! I also bought 3" webbing straps from the fabric store and asked my GF to sew them up into a closed loop, with these you can hook up instead of rings to use a bar attachment, or use the straps for adding additional weights, etc. Maybe ill make a tutorial video?

No, a rubber band generates resistance through displacement of position. The assistance it provides tapers of quadratically. Thus there is a guge difference between the assistance at the top and bottom of an exercise. This system will provide the same assistance throughout the whole range of motion. It is far far superior. The greatest thing is that im a climber, and i have a harness, slings, ropes and pulleys. So i can just make this thing at home. That said, the price is not far off from what it might cost you. To build it from scratch with the proper safe equipment would be at least 150 euros.

Had the chance to use something like this before. It's amazing to be able to train butterfly mounts and maltese press and stuff. The point you made about muscle memory and learning how to fire the kinetic chains is actually really important. Is it worth it for the price? Nah. But if you could build one for $150 or so, including the rings and all, it might be worth it. This thing basically bridges the gap to doing crosses or maltese with your arms through the straps, forearms on the rings. It's neat, but not $280 neat.
