I can't wait till the sale in Aug, gotta get my quick fingers ready if I want to buy something! Good for you! I always wanted to go to a sale like that one! I bet it's a ton of fun and you find so many treasures! I know what to look for for myself, but I have alot of learning to do before I start reselling, especially antiques and mid century finds. I would say I'm intermediate on things like pottery, I know nothing about glass and next to nothing about jewelry/precious stones and metals. Great video, as always!

Fun fact! My dad was born in Astoria and his grandfather, my great grandfather, was the Astoria Chief of Police in the 40’s-60’s.

I went to Astoria, OR about 40 years ago. I had just moved to Chinook, WA which is across the bridge and a few miles to the left. I was looking for a job in Astoria and I went into a little diner for coffee. The owner and I talked and she ended up giving me a free breakfast, since I was not working. She was so nice! She wasn't hiring at the time unfortunately. I love Astoria. I'd love to visit again someday. I have a friend in Chinook, who is a fisherman, and I haven't seen him in years. It would make a great vacation to visit him and explore Astoria...this time with some money!

Girl, I can't even imagine what your eyes have seen in real life! So much beauty in just one short video! It must be truly amazing to see such things up close & real. I'm 65 years old & have barely been out of the state I was born in, Mo. Never seen a mountain, the ocean, a canyon, a glacier. And I have never seen anything in real life just like you seen in this episode! I hope you know how lucky & blessed you are. It's so great you share your adventures or some of us would never see all the wonders you see through your eyes. Thanks for sharing your world with the rest of us. ❤

Your comment really touches me Violet ❤️ When I was around 12 or so I remember my 2nd cousins coming down from Canada to visit and when we got to the beach they ran out and got silent and started crying. I remember being confused and curious as to why they were crying. They had never seen the ocean before. Now as an adult I almost always cry during at least one point of my beach trips because I do know how lucky I am. Not just to see the ocean but for this incredible opportunity to live and for the love of my family 🥰 I saw a documentary where someone was in a parking lot and saw a grasshopper and she said nature and the beauty of this earth is all around us. Even in a parking lot. We just have to pay attention. I hope wherever you are, that you can find that beauty around you 🥰❤️ Thank you for taking the time to comment and I am honored to get to share my life on here with you! 😘

@@leftcoastrevivals , Well lady the beauty you share with us, touches many I'm sure. How would some of us ever see what is out there if it wasn't for ppl. like you who share it all. It's almost as good as being there! Mo. is where I'm from we live on a tiny 10 acre goat farm that we got to buy back a small portion of a family farm that was sold when hubbies parents got older & to ill to take care of it. They had owned it for 40 years & my hubby & his dad farmed it, tilling the soil from sun up to sun down. Caring for God's land. Lots of blood sweat & tears. We had dreamed of living there since the day we where married on May 22nd 1978. 43 years & it took us way over 30 years to get here. They say never give up on your dreams. I have never really been on a vacation of any kind. But I have an imagination that takes me everywhere I ever want to go, before my feet ever hit the ground. I am a dreamer of the reclaim sort & can take junk other ppl disgaurd & make it into something beautiful & hubby has a great talent for truly making it all work out. We lost our home of 30 years in the year 2010, from a whole lot of bad incidents one after another. And had to start over in out later 50's we are now in our middle 60"s. Starting over at that age & having a shoe string budget is pretty hard. I thank God we started poor & had absolutely no choice but to become super resourceful of the things we did have access to. Reclaiming things many ppl didn't even give a thought to throwing it away. And we would in those days recycle it. Before any of that was cool. Lol This land we live on now had no access, hubby & his dad farmed it by bringing in there farm machinery, through the ditch. We had to make an entrance to even get here. Kinda a last frontier sorta thing. No one had lived here even before. Hubby has pulled 4 old mobile homes here with an old M, International that he has keep alive far beyond its years. It has a narrow front end & he welded a big truck blade & made the hydraulics attach to his old tractor & then welded up 2 steel forks to fit over them. He ran the forks through a pallet & added cement blocks & 2 100 # tractor weights for weight. And bungu straped them on.. Because when he would hook the old tractor to the mobile home to pull them the front end wouldn't stay on the ground. It has no red paint left on it, no power steering, no power brakes. It had these big chains on the tires, to help it grip in mud & get better traction. I call it the original four wheel drive. Lol. It had a thing in the front that is a metal piece that sticks out. I asked my husband one day what is that thing. He replied its where they used to crank it to start it. It is a model 1958. If you think that wasn't a site to see pulling the old mobile homes down the highway & bringing them here to our land. I doubt if you have ever seen anything like it either. Just a drop in the bucket to the things my eyes have seen. Living a way simple life. But in so many ways quite extrodonary & things some ppl. will never see with there own eyes as well. I share some of our crazy hard with little decent equipment & resources adventures on FB. With family & freinds. It truly was a remarkable site to see. Everyday as we put our lives back togather after the loss of a home we spent hrs. & years remodeling & reclaiming. The stories I could tell you are many of remarkable reclaim & things we have done throughout our 43 years togather. Adventures are many. I could write a book & fill it with amazing pictures of perserverence against odds that not just anyone could survive. Starting our life as reclaimers before it was ever a thing! And with a unlimited imagination. The simple life has many beautiful sites to see. And it is a hard life. One I would not trade & am grateful to God for. Especially in these times of uncertainty. But we all have beautiful sites to see in many different ways than yours. No less beautiful just different. And have to remind ourselves of that sometimes. Sharing them is a beautiful thing & I share mine with whom ever needs to see what I can see everday in my life, the grand simple life, some ppl. never will get to see with there own eyes. It's been a long journey to the land where we wanted to build a home all those years ago. But we made it & are remodeling those old mobile homes & let me tell you the budget is tighter than a rubber band on a new sling shot! And our experienced reclaim skills are essential to even begin. But somehow God must have knew, we where going to need ever single skill he gave us opportunity to learn along our journey in life. Our daughter & her family live here on our land We call OLD GLORY LAND. That's the best part that they are here with us & near by. After we lost our home of 30 years. We where separated for many years. Them being here is a huge part of the beauty & dream. I really can't think of any other place more beautiful than the land God allows us to be caretakes of while we are in this earth! ❤ It touched me that you even read my post & your response so perfect, thank you! ❤ for all you share with us that won't be able to make the trip. But I would love to show you my simple but beautiful life, if you ever make it to Missouri, you may have to look a little harder, but I can garentee you there is beauty to see!❤ Thank you so much Laura for hearing me. ❤ I to would cry if I ever seen the ocean, but you do share it with your eyes to see how magnificent it must be in real life! Water as far as the eye can see.❤

The house I grew up in during the 60s had a bar in the basement that my dad built. It looked like the bars on Westerns, long and sleek with a large mirror behind it,and lots of cool glasses.I used to go down there and sneak maraschino cherries out of the vintage coiled fridge! 🍒Can't tell you how much I enjoyed this video....Oregon rocks!

Each seaside view is as beautiful as the next. I had the wonderful opportunity to visit my sister in law and family in Astoria. It is a treasured memory till this day. I remember the beautiful woods with enorme trees. Meadows with wild elk and deer taking in the sun. Eating wild blueberries off the bushes and yes, all the Goonies fun. I can see why you want to live there again. Thank you for these lovely videos and all you teach us. 💟

The silver raised semi precious half moon ring with engraving on the side is from the Tuareg ethic people who inhabit the Sahara. They cover different regions in North Africa. You can Google all about them. I think the stone might be carnelian. Carnelian helps you feel grounded, enhances creativity and the flow of creative ideas and so much more. I have a few pieces of Tuareg jewellery myself. I was born in South Africa although I'm now living in Germany. Cool find.

Thank You Laura for the tour of Astoria and other towns in Oregon. I enjoyed watching you find some wonderful Treasures! WE have the same taste in Jewelry. We have planned on traveling out to the West Coast from our home in Florida for awhile and you may have sped-up the process and certainly gave us some places to visit. BTW "GOONIES" was a favorite of my kids when they were little. I enjoyed watching it with them. I'm going to watch it again and tell my teenage Grandchildren to check it out too! Never gave it much thought that it was filmed in an actual town on location! Thanks so much for sharing! Appreciate all the time and care you put into your videos! :) VeroYorkie

New subbie here, I've been quietly binging your thrifting episodes 😆 but this is the cherry on the cake for me - Goonies AND antiquing??? Where do I sign! I'm also a huge fan of the PNW and one day I'll make it there, all the way from Australia. 💗
