@Chris-ew7pb5 ай бұрын
That part, people hate when you can't place their accent and you just generalize them, especially when it's so easy to just say "Hey where is that accent from?" I've gotten some sick stories when just asking people about their accents bc then I can ask how it was like growing up there. Some people just have an ego problem so they want to try to be right rather than open conversation. Ridiculous, ain't it?

some things i've noted: 1. welsh people were not well documented back in the 1700s within the british infantry and were often just referred to as english - this isn't even counting the tense conflict between englishmen and welshmen, irishmen and scotsmen in that century, meaning a welshman being fully identifiable as such within the british infantry is highly unlikely. this woman also seems to be lumping welsh and english accents together, which is weird because they are VERY different, and each region has different dialects of accent. 2. as many people have pointed out, the 82nd regiment (the prince of wales volunteers) was raised in september of 1793 - she mentions that he was stationed before 1793 (in 1781), which really pokes holes in her story. my interpretation of this is that she saw a regiment with the word "wales" in it, and made a welsh soldier original character with very little background research for clout. shockingly, not everything with the word "wales" attributed to it is rooted in welsh culture, and is often rooted in colonialism and british history. the current prince of wales isn't even welsh!!! 3. whilst english was written into law as the primary language of wales in the political acts of union (1536, 1542), the vast majority of welsh men and women in the 18th century could not speak nor understand the english language - yes, it's possible that "rupert" may have had a grasp on the language, but it seems a little *too* convenient. 4. the name "rupert" was not a common name at all in wales during the 1700s. if this man was thoroughbred welsh, it would be highly unlikely that his name was rupert. it would have been something more common such as john, william, thomas, or even edward. if we're REALLY going to nitpick, we could also look at more traditional welsh names such as aneirin, brychan, hywel, and iorwerth, which weren't AS common but were more likely to be attributed to traditionally welsh families, and are sometimes used today! 5. she mentions that she had to "learn his language", yet doesn't make any reference to the welsh language whatsoever? welsh in and of itself is a very traditional language, and even middle welsh (used between the 12th and 14th centuries, but perhaps still around in some form in the 1700s) is still intelligible to modern welsh speakers (source - i'm welsh and am fluent in the language). 6. cooper mentioned about being respectful in graveyards, which is VERY IMPORTANT - these two women are STEPPING ON THE ACTUAL GRAVES of these people in the cemetery, which is VERY disrespectful. like, probably one of the worst things you can do in a graveyard.
@woadxqueen6664 ай бұрын
I loved learning but I must add on that stepping on grave isn't the worst thing.. people in my high school used to fuck on them..

Then Katherine sees her tiktoks and quite suddenly establishes herself as a part of Rebecca’s delusion and enabling it, going so far as to act as Rupert’s mouthpiece. Maybe I’ve been watching too many cult documentaries but that’s a really rocky power dynamic that also puts rebecca in a place where her irl relationship now hinges on her delusion. OR this was a really well-thought out PR stunt for her tours in which case she kinda slayed that

This idea is a wild reduction of the theory that early modern English was more widely rhoticised than it is today, and that the modern American accent preserved this feature. We still have heavily rhotic accents in England but they're obviously a minority now. Southwestern accents (especially cornish) and the rhotic Lancashire dialects are really good examples of how early modern English might have sounded.

This hurts me but helps me a lot. One thing I can say, nothing about the other side is supposed to make logical sense. It’s always illogically logically possible and it’s the hardest thing to understand and accept since our world is driven off of logical science. Coincidences aren’t real and everything happens for a reason that we may not all know. Watching their videos feels like a slight insult to real experiences that ppl do go through.

27:26 you as the viewer are also being primed to hear certain things when the ghosts are “speaking” by the words they put on the screen- the words guide your brain into hearing certain things in the noise by priming your brain to expect the same input that you have gotten from your other senses. If you just hear the noise with no visual stimulus (words) it might not sound like anything at all. Even just moving away from the video to type this comment all I heard was static.

Hey Cooper, just wanted to let you know that there's a situation with Scentbird and it's founder being highly for a lack of better words bonkers, basically a spiritual grifter amongst other things. I thought you might want to know since you've worked with them before and I'd assume (based on things you talk about in your videos) that you wouldn't want to continue supporting them after hearing what she says. There's a good video explanation from KeyasWorld titled "Everyone should STOP taking Scentbird sponsorships"

it looks like what these two gfs and ghost bf have is very sweet and lovely, and obv they're not hurting anyone, but stuff like this always makes me a bit sad because of my own experience. my mom has always had undiagnosed mental illness and when I was little she came across this singer who she thought had a beautiful voice but had died some years before. for some reason, she came to believe that this Native American man whom she'd never met was actually her spirit guide, and that's why she felt some type of connection to him--she kept his CD in her car, his photo on an altar she made, and prayed to/claimed to receive contact from him regularly, even used his name as passwords for her email and stuff like that. for context my mom is just a regular white lady, not Native. my mom has always been disconnected from reality in ways like this, and that's not inherently a problem but it caused a ton of problems growing up with her. but it's a relief to see that what this person has with her ghost boyfriend seems pretty wholesome

The 82nd Regiment was Scottish btw, in North Carolina in 1781 and disbanded 1784 which I think was later brought back up under the Prince of Wales (Idk the nationality of the volunteers) in 1793. I have 3 sources, take the first 2 with a grain of salt but Wikipedia and a separate Wiki kind of page, and for the one in 1793 is from the National Army Museum of the UK. I also am piecing 2 things together, there is a chance it never existed before 1793. But no matter what way you mess with it, there is things that don't line up with her story.
