I have a 2016 Z51 and put the Range AFM Disabler on at 8127 miles. I now have 13987 and it works great and have never had it go into V4 mode. For $219 you will save your engine.

I bought the stage 1 tune from Livernois motorsports, near Detoit, MI. Not only does it cut out cylinder deactivation, but after installing the 160 deg. Thermostatand high flow air filter, it' now at about 490 H.P. it runs amazing, and the shifts are much more firm and responsive. She rips.

This device works great on my 2019 Grandsport, but words of warning, if you let your car sit like I do at times, make sure to have your battery tender on, without it if the car sits for 4or 5 days, it could and will drain the battery !

I have 2016 too it's a manual transmission it doesn't do it unless I physically put it in eco mode

I bought my 2019 GS brand new in May of 2020 and the first thing I bought was the Range Disabler from the same place as you. This way it had the latest firmware also. Since I live out in a rural area I also pulled the fuse for the exhaust so it stays in track mode all the time 😂

Have a '17 Grand Sport now (had a '14 Z51) and just got my Range Device about a week ago... I generally use Sport mode without using the paddles. Have read that if you use your paddle shifters (of course in the automatics), it won't go to V4....Those with Manuals don't have to worry about the AFM going to V4.... Keep up the good work!

I've left mine in for 4 weeks without issues, car started up fine. The newer models hardly drain any battery and essentially only time you need to take it off is storage, but at that point if you have a battery tender on it, its not needed anyway.

i just picked up a 2015 z51. i have been watching all the videos about the 4 cylinder kicking in. For some reason mine (automatic) never goes into the 4 cylinder mode or at least it does not show it. it always shows the v8 even in E mode it still displays the v8. any idea what the previous owner may have done to over ride it

The dealership cant detect that this was plug in, of course you unplug it so they dont see it but that csnt flash the ECM to till that this was plug up?

Drive in manual mode and it will never happen. I've been doing it for years.

Completely negating the point of getting an auto. If you wanna keep the vettes in manual forever in the auto because of this issue then probably would be better to get a manual. Grab the range device and you can drive auto or manual whenever you want without future issues.

From what I’ve read and heard, it’s only an issue for _some_ ‘15 and ‘16 A8 cars.

If you put it in sport or track mode it doesn't go into V4 or just buy a manual and it doesn't go into V4 without you putting it in..

its not the programming, it's the actual lifter. So if its gunna go bad, it's gunna go bad. I have a 1500 and i tuned off the v4/v8 and the lifter still went bad

I have spoken to several people who have had issues due to the cylinder deactivation. Several folks commented on my last video as well. Personally I haven't had any issues with my car but thats what I am trying to prevent! I guess getting it was more of an insurance thing for me lol.

Anyone can tell that shut off half of the engine will cause pressure changes and also uneven heat build up. its not normal.

I don’t know much about cars but I would rather trust Chevrolet engineers than a random KZbinr. I just know that I love the cylinder deactivation feature and I also know that nothing lasts forever. My corvette will most certainly outlive me.

This system came about mainly due to govt. pressure to increase mpg's without regard to engine life. There are numerous forums out there similar to Trawick's mentioning major engine problems that can happen with long usage of cylinder deactivation. Lyle, an experienced mechanic & KZbinr at C&S Corvettes in Sarasota, FL touts the same thing. To each his own but this sure sounds like a good preventative fix without any negatives. Cheers.

My 2019 M7 has never gone into Eco mode and will never go into Eco mode unless I select it. I'm not sure what GM was thinking by enabling Eco mode in the automatic C7's regardless of driving mode.

I have an M7, and I tried Eco . Didn't make that much of a difference in the mileage. Also I think the previous owner disabled the 1-4 shift lockout because when it says to do the 1-4 shift it doesn't for e me.

Buy a manual and keep it in sport mode and you will never have that problem

As long as the cylinder deactivation isn't happening then no! I am not totally sure when it kicks off and on with the manuals but I am sure someone here that has one would know for sure!

Switch it to sport mode. It wont go into v4 mode with a manual. The only time v4 mode activates is in eco mode on manuals and all modes in automatics so if you purchased an automatic corvette yes you need that adapter. I have a manual and always drive in sport or track. Also skip shift is active in all modes on auto and manuals. The way to defeat that is rev it a little higher before shifting or shift sooner

@@GG-xs8vt no. I dont mess with launching my vette. Its really hard on your vehicle and transmission so i never bothered to look it up. Plus i dont track my vette. Its just a ride around toy. Dont have that kind of money to break things for showing off lol. Sorry im not able to help with that.

Even assuming that you can find a reputable tuner anywhere near you and that they can indeed "tune it out", this device will cost you less (dollars and time) than a trip to the tuner.
