Two things: Microsoft Licence and Updates: Re: Licences: I can not comment on Microsoft Licenses and how this impacts you. There are way too many variables and too many individual use cases. I installed this on a new machine and it picked up some strange version of Windows. I installed this in a VM and it was another. Same ISO file! I can tell that when you install Tiny 11 it technically has Win 11 Pro - but this changes when you log into your Microsoft account and depends on what you actually own and and and and. Do with this info as you will. Re: the Updates - so far I have had several Win 11 updates with no issues. It didn't bring back all the bloatware. Security updates also work fine.

2:05 - You can boot into a virtual hard drive (VHD file). You can install tiny 10 (or 11) into a VHD, then dual boot. Its a bit like dual booting, but less destructive. There is a program called virtual BCD Edit which edits the boot file Win 10 uses (as the main HDD is still booted from). This is a great way to load multiple operating systems easily - Windows Server, different copy of Win 10 for trying out programs, etc. They're all independent and don't hurt each other. Cool feature.

I have a small Lenovo workstation that I installed a scene release of Windows 10 on. It's powered by a Core i5-2400 with 8GB DDR3 (1333mhz lol). It's the Phoenix Lite10 OS. Works like a charm and we use that small pc in our bedroom watching Netflix and other streaming services. It's activated with a legitimate W10 key (which you can buy anywahere for under a dollar), so no harm done there. Oh, and it's fully updated as well.

I'm on my third generation of Ubuntu on this low end PC (dual core, 4GB ram, 500GB HDD). Ubuntu found drivers for my display, keyboard/mouse, two optical drives, card reader & scanner, I was impressed. Ubuntu does everything I need: Libre for office work, Asunder for CD ripping & a document scanner. Version 20.04 is certainly slower than my original 16.04 but fast enough. SW updates occur weekly and painlessly. I'm staying with Ubuntu.

Generally speaking the answer is yes. When disabling, turning of or outright removing stuff that's not used, it allows the device and associated programs/apps to run more efficiently. However, keep in mind that programs/apps are designed with the assumption that your device has the necessary operating system things installed to run them. If a 'lite' version of the OS is installed, some programs, may or may not continue to work properly.

I'm confused. Does doing this clean your computer, at the end you said you should do a backup before doing this. I thought installing and booting from a separate boot drive would have allowed you to keep all your files as is. And that booting with Tiny10 would use a partition of your drive maybe? I'm not that tech savy so I don't know. I was hoping I could keep everyhing as is, and then test out Tiny10 and begin working off of it if it was faster, and then I'd have to upload some key software I use. With my new SSD I should still be able to do video editing while running Tiny10?

I tried this on a Dell XPS 18 1820 All-In-one. The thumb drive booted up and started the install, then came back with a message that this must be done from Startup.exe. I tried that from with Windows 10 and it ran for a little while and then stated it failed.

Given Microsoft's litigious nature, what are the licensing requirements of this? This video doesn't actually say as much, but it gives the impression that it is free to install and use.

I installed the Tiny10 version on an old Win7 laptop. Without a licence to activate it the user cannot configure any settings or personisation which lets it down badly.

That tiny 10 is reeaaaally stripped tho, no uppdates, defender.. drivers, smb etc.. Prepare to tinker ALOT if ya plan to daily drive that one..🤣 It's damm-small tho : 3Gig install, 500-600 mem usage and 33 running processes (on a VM).. Awesome work👌

Do the Tiny 10/11 versions require a licence key? If yes can I reuse an old Windows key? Also, does the 11 version run on non compatible hardware that the full version requires?
