After seeing the Versus tent at Sea Otter and having the founder on the B1KER Bar podcast I decided to give the tires a try. I definitely was surprised with what I ended up with. If you want to try a set for yourself, use the code B1KER and save some money. If you are one of the first 30, you'll save $15. The rest of you that lag on getting your order in, or don't see this until way later, you'll still be able to save five bucks! If you want to really get to know Versus swing by the B1KER Bar channel and check out the interview: • Ep. 111 - Versus Tires

Loving these tires. I’ve had them in dry dusty, dirt surfing chunk, to post rain hero dirt and they are money as money gets 👊🏻👊🏻 I’ll add that I USED to run that same Maxxis combo on everything. Now not so much. FYI for anyone interested, I’m racing these on an E Bike in an enduro series. Haven’t failed once 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🔥❤️

I've run these for about 4 months no problem. Durable and grip well. I feel like my Assegai cornered a bit better and the Dissector rear rolled a bit better, but the Dissector tread wears out so fast and costs $$$. That said, I've had zero problems riding through sharp rock gardens, loose dirt and DG. Tread is still looking good whereas the Dissector (soft) was all tore up on the same terrain. The yeti turquoise is a nice touch as well. Glad we have worthy options. Should help being prices down. Cost as much as some moto or car tires. No joke.

here's food for thought.. maxxis makes tires for rock crawling, mudding, and general Truck - off road use. they also make tires for side-by-sides, etc.. but you NEVER hear people fan-boying the maxxis brand for anything other than MTB. in the off-roading circles most people dont even give them the time of day... it's seriously a MTB fan club of people who prolly haven't tried a lot of the newer rubber available now. sure, maxxis was prolly a great choice 4 years ago, but there's wayyy to many good tires for the $50-70 range that are TOP TIER (looking at Conti, Hutchinson, Versus, Vittoria). i just set up my trail and enduro bikes both with kryptotal trail/enduro compound. not going back.

Those “accordion slits” on the side knobs are on the wrong side of the knob to provide any grip. The inner edge is what grabs, which is why the inner edge wears and not the outside.
@B1KER
@B1KER Жыл бұрын
They don’t proveide grip but allow for the knob to flex. That’s what helps with the grip.
@MarkZuckerburg5G
@MarkZuckerburg5G Жыл бұрын
It allows the knob to flex, but not in the mode you want. Sipes allow the inner edge to deform and grip, comprising the outer edge just lets the knob fold easier. Sipes are a better design for faster riding.

I like the Maxxis DHF, DHR and Recon tires in 29x2.6” on my Stan’s Baron and other i35mm rims by RF and WTB I have some i40mm rims too. I usually don’t run any tire less than 2.5” because I like wider tires for my loose over rocks steep trails where I ride. I agree that CushCore is a staple and use in all my wheels. When that new company comes up with wider tires I’ll be happy to try
@B1KER
@B1KER 2 жыл бұрын
I had 2.5's on my Tallboy before I put these on and I'll tell you even though I was worried about them being smaller it didn't end up being an issue. I think they may be a bit wider than a Maxxis 2.4 so maybe it was about the same as the Maxxis 2.5. Either way, I definitely had the same concern.

@versustires5494
@versustires5494 2 жыл бұрын
The tires are a true 2.4 & the accordion folds let them ride a little wider. They might feel a little less "floaty" than the 2.6 but it's going to roll WAY faster and feel a bit more sturdy.

Maxxis is definitely not the king. Just one of the most known brands. I am sure there are better options out there and Versus seems to be one of them. I've not had good luck with Maxxis tyres, most had misaligned thread, a sin leg and right side did not match, knobs did not align with each other, some were even a bit wobbly, but most got very wobbly after 4-6 months, but when I saw cracks or quite rounded off knobs, it was a sign the bead would likely fail soon, I wore th ebead quit ebadly, once you see some rubber falling off or see the nylon bead, you need to stop using them or the tyre will blow off. So I always made sure to check, the thread had much more life in it, despite few cracks and rounded off knobs, but bead always was the first go. It's been like tha t with all of them. I used High Roller 2, Shorty, both in 2.30, 29er but now I use Michelin Wild Enduro 2.30, they made a huge difference, the transition was much better, alot smoother, felt perfect, so did the side knob stability, I could feel Maxxis flex and twist feel unstable, but not the Wild Enduro., this was on 62.5 deg head angle, and 23mm rims, now I have 30mm rims, which feels even smoother when turning, doing fakies, doing fakies(reversing and turning the bike) it's very noticible.

The cons with Michelin Wild Enduro the knobs crack, But will likely not be an issue. But Michelin has a great bead, it stays like new where as Maxxis would look like I took sandpaper to it in just a few months. I went for the sticky rubber on the front and less sticky on the rear. But it wears faster than regular compound from Maxxis. I've not tried versus yet. @@B1KER

Everything is more expensive nowadays. When I was younger I was pissed cuz a lift ticket in Tahoe was $40 and I didn’t even pay that much to ski in the Alps. Nowadays that same place is over $200 a day. 🤷‍♂️

@@B1KER $200 a day is too much , USA is surely out of this world , here in Germany you can get a season ticket for that amount
