That's what it is, pure luck. Another roll of the dice and you, I, or any one of us could have been born into a poverty stricken, war torn country. Instead we were born in the West, and people have it hard here yes, but I'm fairly sure if we're watching this video we have fairly "comfortable" lives, compared to Ahmed. My struggles don't compare to fleeing a war, over shitty seas in shittier boats, and dying for the effort.

I know this response is 3 years late but Ahmed is based on a true story. It's about a little boy named Alan Kurdi who was found lying on the beach. Lowkey used Ahmed as his name since it wasn't just limited to that child but also because the name in arabic means 'Highly Praised One' and it comes from the same root word 'hmd' as the name of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) so that is another link there.

Amazing reaction. From a Canadian Muslim who was raised in the west I appreciate your reaction. Thousands die every year trying to cross the sea from decisions made by the super powers of the world. As a Canadian I can travel to any country I want with my passport in case a war starts but these innocent people in these war torn countries are trapped because their passport is not accepted anywhere in the world. We are privileged. But I love your reaction. It shows us humanity still exists.

I'm working on and I'm living in Turkey News agency. As it says in the song, I am discriminated against because of "Accent" and I cannot live the life I want in my country only because of politicians. Even if I want to migrate, I cannot go to a place I want or better because I do not have a "European Union passport". Most regions depicted in the clip are regions of Iraq and Syria. We do not experience such a war in our country, but we are exposed to so much discrimination politically that I want to leave my country. Our currency is losing value and this situation prevents me from migrating economically. Thank you for your reaction to this song, and the glimmer of hope in me is always burning. I hope I can live a clean and decent life too. Peace.

Ahmed was a true 'story'. I remember the incident well. I was a long term independent volunteer in Greece in the refugee camps there. Heavily involved with the entire scene from early 2015 to the end of 2017 when I had to leave completely mentally exhausted by the entire experience and suffering from PTSD myself (all of the long term independent volunteers had to leave for the same reasons one by one as the stress was incredibly high). I was also heavily involved with the refugee boat rescues on Lesvos in the eastern Aegean Sea where Ahmed lost his life. We lost 3,500 to drowning, many of them women and children in 2015/2016 alone. In tears now with damp eyes as the memories start flooding back. Looking at your reaction to this video by Lowkey is refreshing Canadian Dad. You're right, we cannot begin to imagine the horrors many of the victims of war went through in their home countries. I mean what do you say to the Syrian gentleman in Moria refugee camp on Lesvos, with your arm around his shoulder holding his hand sitting in the dirt at night round a 45 gallon drum fire pit as he sobs his eyes out telling me through a translator how he lost one of his young sons who he had to leave behind as he was captured by soldiers in Syria who had tortured his son to death? What could I say to him? That night in my own van in bed (I drove to Greece and back from the United Kingdom not just once but twice 2,300 miles away to volunteer - all unpaid just out of love for humanity and slept in my small old van to keep my costs down) I too cried my eyes out. Put it this way I was howling with grief at the sheer tragedy of it all (often). I could go on. I could write a book about all of this but for the sake of brevity and I don't want to bore you all to tears so I'll refrain for now from carrying on as no point here would be served trying to convey the sheer awfulness of it all. Another song by Lowkey which you might appreciate is here. This one is all about the fire at Grenfell in London which fire claimed many victims. I'll warn you all, it's a tear jerker so get your Kleenex out in readiness as it's pretty hard hitting listening to Lowkey on this track. Lowkey - Ghosts of Grenfell - kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKW4kqCoeM2WsLM
@markandrews60544 жыл бұрын
The Grenfell Fire. Potential trigger warning. Viewer discretion advised. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6fYZ2qaaLSojsU What caused the fire and the huge loss of life? The building was clad in a cheaper non-fire retardant cladding to save some money over using the cladding material which should have been used. Incidentally many other high rise tower blocks in the United Kingdom have this same cladding on their high rises leaving many thousands of people living in them fearful of another similar Grenfell style tragedy in the future, but the government to date have refused to act and take the responsible action to have it all replaced by the corporate private development companies who profit massively from these housing developments.

Love theese videos aswell, its like watching the video with a close friend and your emotions spill over to the viewer, dont be embarassed about that, sent the song to lots of people and nobody react like you do, im so glad i randomly found you looking for reactions to Mic Righteous, you surprised me then and thats why i subbed right away. Really helps seeing how open you are with your emotions and im sure it helps lots more people who feel like showing emotions is a weakness, when it really is a strenght, If you wanna react to a canadian artist i would reccomend reacting to Hollohan - My lost love and addiction, he has 3 songs that are really good but 2 of them about his friend, and 1 mostly about his drug issue, but he has a really strong voice and yeah, im sure you would get emotional again if you can handle it. Thanks again for this video, from all the reaction videos i watch trying to feel the same as the person reacting, youre the first one that does it really well.

Easy,Canadian truthseeker. I'm from England n heard this track a while back when it first came out. My boyfriend played it for me. Lowkey along with Akala n Mic Righteous are the probably the 3 MOST REALIST LYRICISTS that I'm proud to say our country has produced. Obvs there are so many more! Re:This track n the visuals,u can't even say "I love it," cos it's so raw...what's to love? "It's so real." "It hits home." You can only respect Lowkey ( No.1 lyricist) for getting the message across. As an English female who's musical heart has always 💯, mostly swerved towards Hip Hop (then quite a long way after Hip Hop...,Grime,Drum n Bass, Motown,Ska/Two Tone. I'm always interested in what you lucky ppl overseas think of our take on what the tunes mean n represent,whether u get our slang,what we're saying',etc.... I have to say this tho.....ur reaction to Ahmed was so similar to mine. It's fuckin' heartbreaking. I watch alot of reactionary vids. Some ppl say some stoopid things,others r into the cars,watches, slutty girls n if that's what they want, they've acheived it. They should give themselves a pat on their shallow backs.🤦🏻♀ They're the ones where the almighty $ comes first. Still,they have to stop being little boys at some point,grow up and realize that there are issues in the world that WILL affect their kids,the environment and of course themselves. Lowkey is a living legend n I felt ur reaction to Ahmed. Like I said,I've only just discovered you but I'm wondering if you've done reactionary vids for any other tunes..... Seeing as ur Canadian I'm proper interested if you've heard/seen the visuals to "TERRORIST" and "OBAMANATION" by Lowkey? If not get ready for his next level! Take care, STAY SAFE 😷 & STAY HAPPY 😊 Love always, Birmingham (UK) Becky.❤&🕊.✌🏼

yeah, one thing you can always expect from lowkey, the song is about to be deep as hell, the video too...worst part about it is he is not lying. ill always be a fan of lowkey, he has opened the eyes of many people including myself who used to be ignorant and next to heartless to the oppressed people in the middle east. edit: for those who dont know, lowkey also does many interviews and speeches talking about all as well as his music, he has debated people from piers morgan, to CNN, to doing speeches at oxford, he is 100 percent an activist who is also an artist, not just an artist.
