I got a hot take: only a few towers should be able to do this well. Not every tower has to solo a BAD with little to no support. I.E.: the Bloon Solver should not be able to complete a 2MPC, it should make Rounds like 63, 76, and 163 a joke, but struggle against blimps.

So the reason freeplay ceramics hurt the archmage so much: Archmage only does 8 Ceramic damage, so it needs a staggering 10 shots to kill a freeplay Ceramic, reduced to 8 with both alchemist buffs. For a roughly 45k tower to need 10 attacks to kill a ceramic is simply awful.

Top and bottom path mermonkeys give good pierce bonus. Bottom path one only does so in tier 5 though.

it was largely overshadowed by Summon Phoenix before, and not worth the heavy price investment for the difference. Now the difference is noticeable and more in line with his price for a non-global tower.

Archmage got a solid buff to its specialty but no help for its weakness. The result is an overall ~15% popping power buff. Its not nearly as impactful as it sounds in the patch notes. The tower is amazing against moab outer layers but pretty bad for ceramics. That was true before and after the update.

I was already using it on expert maps with Corvus and the dragons breath buff means I don’t need to echo ancestral might the BAD to get it into first strike range. Only need echo storm + ember which is way more forgiving when it comes to using Corvus on 98 and 99.
