I'm 74. Growing up my dad worked for a company that built roads in Calif. There isn't a town on hwy 99 I didn't live in. After changing schools 21 times we settled in Reedley. I went to school there and had the same kids in class for 7 years. In the summers we went with the roads. Lake Tahoe, 17 mile drive, the Redwoods, all over the state was home. I still love this state. There is a place in Dunlap that when it rains in the valley you can see the stars, then the clouds and the rain on the city lights below.

When you are at a particular area in the mountains, you can see different levels of the atmosphere like taking off in an airplane. On a clear night you can look at the valley from cliffs in the mountains. Sometimes you can see the lights in the cities below the clouds. Then above the clouds you see the stars. It's beautiful.

I have a question for you regarding accents. Slim Pickins was born in Kingsberg in 1919. Someone commented (on another video) that “his accent was fake, he was born in California.” I was hoping you could inform me if his cowboy-ish accent could be how they spoke in Kingsberg when he was a child. I could be wrong, but I thought yes, as it was (still is) part of the Western Frontier.

Near Dunlap was the most awesome little spot called Squaw Valley Herb Gardens, run by a wonderful woman named Rosemary Nachtigal and her husband, Tim. She would give tours and host workshops at the garden. I visited a few times. It was magical! She passed away a few years ago and the gardens closed.

Slim Pickens was a friend of my mother From the old RKO days. When you get back home you start the chat line I'll tell more about it. But for now it's an excellent video as well as eating a chicken at that restaurant.😉👍🐓

Town was clean as a pin. I like the intimacy of the small town. I was raised in a town with a RR. The sound of the train horn brings back sweet memories.

It all depends on what you are looking for when going into a town when they say that there's nothing there. Most towns have a lot more than folks think. Bet it was quite different when all the Swiss were there. Lots of cool architecture there. Another great one Rosie. Thank you so much.

I love this town too Rosie. Swedish folk love their coffee so that's a coffee pot /water tank. The painting on it is called Dalmaling, the folk art of Sweden. I taught this style of painting. The big red horses are called Dala . In ancient time small Dalas where used for money. Hope you found the outstanding Swedish bakery and a good cup of coffee😅 Great video, you portrayed Kingsburg as the happy town it is.❤

Holy crap are you trans?? If you’re not I hope that’s not like offensive or whatever, but if you are, so am I, and I grew up in that town! I hope no one had any rude comments towards you. This town is pretty rough when it comes to that sort of thing.
