my uncle worked the El Dorado mine. my family went up there when the town's people were moving out. I was 4-5 years old and only have a couple memories of my time there. We went to the El Dorado mine and to Lake Athabasca where people were using barges to move and got to go on a tugboat.

Thanks for watching and for commenting. Interesting bit of history!!

I worked in fort McMurray for many years. Lots of the homes and apartments in downtown came from uranium city. They shipped the building down the Athabasca river on barges

Interesting. Be nice to visit. Any road access?
@oldlostminer9 ай бұрын
There is no road access to this area. In the winter there use to be winter roads built over frozen lakes etc. Now the only way is by small charter air craft. Thanks for watching!! I appreciate it.

I really do hope we see a nuclear renaissance in Canada especially in the North via the use of SMR technology. That would be an ironic yet fitting way to repower places like Uranium City and other towns and villages not on the grid as it were.. So far Canada is 86% green when it comes to electricity and tech like that would help to close the 14% gap to get us to a Carbon-free power grid...

I hear there is a lot of exploration going in that region so who knows. Maybe see another uranium mine someday. Thanks for watching.

Pollution is pollution. Uranium waste or carbon it's all poison
@carmichaelmoritz86625 ай бұрын
where did all the money go that the uranium mine business made? All the corporations involved including any of their family members that got inheritance , should be financially responsible for the clean up. Will the big corporations ever care and stop stuff like this from ever happening again. Probably not due to their greed! The pollution created will never go away no matter what!
@oldlostminer5 ай бұрын
All the money goes to the big wigs at the top and the politicians and bureaucrats. The working man gets his meager pay. The contractor gets stiffed when the mine goes broke. Then it's wash, rinse and repeat on another mine. Hey...thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
