I used to go places like that in a Honda Civic. You would be surprised where you could go but you had to be careful of the road and very aware of what a car like that was capable of. In this case looking at that road I would have turned back, sand like that is bad news.

Anyone telling you to pad the cage in the morrvair doesn't understand rollcages. There are two kinds of rollcage padding: One that amounts to a fireproof pool noodle, which will not stop your head from compressing it right down to the metal in a crash - its entire job is to act as fireproof padding on door bars and stuff where you might casually whack body parts into the cage by accident and has no value in a crash, and a super-high-density kind that will stop your head way before it gets to the metal, but is going to break your skull just as bad. Both types are intended to be used in combination with a helmet. This type of padding's job is to prevent the fiberglass helmet shell from breaking on the metal, and the helmet's job is to keep your head from cracking like an egg. If you don't wear a helmet in the vehicle, the safest thing is no cage. If you need a cage just in case, you want it so far away from your head you can't possibly touch it while belted in. Since the Morrvair isn't a racecar, any time you need the cage would be a pretty low energy event like a static rollover, or maybe a tumble down some rocks. In which case you've got plenty of space. It's almost like you kind of almost know what you're doing, at least some of the time.

OK Matt. I did a lot of calculations precise mathematical calculations on more vars and how dangerous they are. If you drive off of 170 foot cliff doing an 80 miles an hour you have your hands over the roll bar above the front window will probably take the fingers off on impact. No matter what you do your head will hit the bar on the roof and probably the roof and probably the floorboard all at the same time. You don’t have to worry about doing rollovers you did that on your way down multiple times before your impact. So my recommendation For you and your wonderful crew is do not fly off of a cliff at 80 miles an hour and you won’t have this problem. I am so glad that I was able to calculate this out to help save your lives. LOL😆😂🤣😂🤣. You guys have a wonderful and blessed day.

In all fairness to Ralph Nader, 'Unsafe at any speed' was about ALL cars not just Corvairs. I grew up with a Corvair and love them. I am really jealous of you and the Lakewood!
@tallpaulsynd7 ай бұрын
Ralph Nader did not like cars but he specifically targeted the Corvair in that book. His concern had merit, the Corvair would oversteer and not under steer in some situations, causing the car to spin around rather than plow forward. Almost all other cars would not oversteer so the Corvair was an anomaly that could cause unexpected behavior for a driver unfamiliar with it. The MorrVair doesn’t have the original rear engine or suspension so this no longer applies.

People from different places come in, watch you give your opinions on how stuff should be and feel free to give theirs as well. Great recovery Matt and Kaulin. Where’s the keys , fingers pointing every which way. Great job Kaulin and the B Team! If Katelynn hand headset, she would have been able to leave the window rolled up and enjoy the Cool AC. 🤙😎
