It's weird... As much as I always hated living in Chicago (I'm more of a middle of nowhere type of guy) All these years later. After having lived in some incredibly remote areas. Currently living in a fairly remote area.. I'll always miss that sound of trains all night. It was ages ago I got out of the city. And while It's improved my day to day life/sanity/stress level greatly.. I grew up in a house that was right next to the tracks.. I mean, it was like a little stubby city block with 4 houses on it, and then railroad. You'd have full blown trains most of the day. And then a lot of switchers moving stuff around all night. It's still weird to me to hear NOTHING at night. Just silence. I'm weird though. Best I've ever slept in my life is in a tiny bunk on a tugboat making like 4kts pulling barges on 400 or so mile runs from northern lake Michigan up and across lake Superior. Boat rolling, hull creaking, and the constant background sound of the diesel just purring away... Now that's cozy. 😂

The DH4s reverser can not move above 8 Kph. They did that in the last update and honestly its very annoying Also I have found that you dont need to cut 2 jobs when they're going to the same track. Just ome handbrake with them still coupled in does work

Is it just me or does it seem ever since DV got day/night cycles, it's about 80% nighttime and 20% day time (which is often obscured by weather events)? I kinda hate it because it's hard to see what's going on much of the time in these episodes.

I wouldn't complain if it was changed to something like 30 minutes of day and 10 minutes of night with lower chance of inclement weather. Gameplay might not be so realistic, but it would be more fun. Also night time in this game kind of ruins the video, it goes so pixelated and low quality even at 1080p.

I was so inspired by your content, I went on a mini-vacation to go on my first ever train ride. 🥰 GSMR's 1702 has a fantastic whistle, and you could hear it everywhere in the city. The trip in the mountains was pretty exciting too! I even loved the 777 foot high train bridge, and I'm afraid of heights!

If you get a chance , look up Dupp's railroad, it's 5 mile long spur in Germantown Ohio.They have a little red 25 ton GE locomotive single ended. It'll crack you up it is so tiny and standard gauge.

To answer your question why it's a freight haul when it's empty: The wagons are loaded with empty containers, so the containers are your freight :) Only if you would have the wagons without containers it would be considered a logistics haul.

That path from Food Factory to the junction on the east gave me PTSD when a bunch of flammable and exploding tanker cars were running down the hill FAST with brakes RED HOT because I was performing a maneuver around the crossing (I had too much cargo) and forgot to tie a handbrake on all of them. DH4, my favourite locomotive, will happily go above 90 km/h but it won't accelerate very fast up there anymore. Loco remote is nice for showing the speed when the speedometer ends.

This game needs a spooky game mode where a cryptid stalks you at night with your only refuge being in the cab of a moving locomotive. Being under the yard-lights giving temporary safety so you need to be quick with shunting and the run to the office also being risky. A Slenderman style game mode to really spice things up.

Id say start with the DM3 too, because cab jumping with 2 DM3s can give you something like 1600-1700t TE depending on grade, amd hyce already proved he was fairly competent at jumping between 2 in the first ep. Much easier to get that cash than the 200k for the de6 and needed licenses as well

Also don't like how it forces you to get some licenses before you cam buy others. I need Train Length 1 in order to get the DH4 License. Also you need Concurrent Orders 2 before you can get the DE6 License. Just makes things annoying. Edit: Hyce, by the way you're playing and the teleportation distance limitation, I assume you're on Realistic? If so, K assume that's why you dont use the F2 + F4 and Alt overview to move trains around the yard? Edit 2: Watching Hyce kick and couple cars and trains gives me anxiety 😂 Edit 3: What was the total Tonnage and car count? You did length, but not Tonnage or car count Edit 4: The DH4 can only switch the reverser if the speed is below 10km/h, and the DE Locos go to notch 10, but the DH4 only does notch 7, whereas you said 8. I use the F4/Alt menu a lot. Just thought I'd mention that, along with the reverser thing when you were confused about it

To your first question, he is playing realistic here. As for the job disorganization, Zeibach, who is now an altfuture dev, made a mod that organizes all the job papers on the table. Hyce has used it before but for this playthrough he's limiting himself to cosmetic mods. If someone found a way to make a job binder that you could tear pages out of i'd be over the moon tbh. It does bring rhe question of how you'd sort it though, do you go by job type, destination, payout? Would be well out of my wheelhouse to guess how itd be implememnted

Bruh, 2xS282 can take 2200t ton, 1.5km train from harbour, through steel mill, city south west, machine factory to food factory on one go, you just have to refill water once or twice on the way. There is no need to use modern technology. Coal in the hole and throttle to the celling :D Ah, you have to highball through the harbour like 50km/h with some spicy derail sounds at the curve and switch before hill climb. Otherwise- SLUG TIME :D

Realism setting. He could try getting a 100% save file (which basically means having bought all licenses - didn't he even have one basically before the Simulator update? Just put it back in or load that legacy save up and buy the DM3, DH4 and So6o licenses, save and be happy!) and just dump it into his DV savegame folder and just not touch it for being able to set custom realism settings, so he could enable full range teleport for convenience.

Once again, the ghost of Hunter Harrison returns to wreak havoc on an unsuspecting stretch of railroad 😂 Ever noticed how “precision scheduled railroading” is neither precise or scheduled? Quick tip for faster set outs, the handbrake requirements don’t apply to individual jobs in my experience, as long as a track is tied together, one brake should count for all the jobs in said track. I’ve recently picked up the locomotive remote, and it makes switching 10x faster with the same amount of mayhem. The fun starts once you get 2 or more cuts of hazmat rolling down the lead at once!

One of the upsides of those couplers and with the train length and mass you have here you're still in a realistic dimension for this system.

Slipping and then turning sand on is pretty much a bad practice. You mostly make more track damage, because you way more sand down the tracks instead of providing more traction - yeah you also increase traction, but much less then if you'd apply the sand even before already slipping. So what you usually should do when you´re slipping is taking back the power, apply sander and then turn up the power again. As you don't have to pay for track damage you might also do it the wrong way, but I wanted to tell you how to do it in reality if you want to know a bit of back-story :)

S282 is especially more fun when you have many slope changes on your route... It feels kinda impossible at first to not blow it up. The last time I made that I blowed up my cylinders, by overfilling the boiler just to not blow up the boiler. At least it wasn't catastrophic failure then, but seeing steam coming out of the cylinder where it's not supposed to come out is also not as good as you might want...
