I love trains. I grew up right next to the railroad track like 100 yards from my house. I remember summer nights as a kid growing up in Oklahoma, with the windows open and hearing the train come in at night or early in the morning. It used to wake me up, but I miss that sound now of the whistle blowing and that sound of the clanking of the tracks, which would put me back to sleep

Watco will probably be sucking up all the funds from the state for rehabilitation grants from the state of Wisconsin after purchasing all that trackage from CN in the poor condition a lot of that trackage is at the time of the sale, all thanks to CN deferring maintenance and running the tracks to the ground. Perfect example is the Spencer to Medford line that is in horrible shape and was embargoed because of the poor conditions!

One would think that but depending on how many customers the line stretches to and serves, only the bare minimum for maintenance is gonna get done if it's a small number. The more money a rail line brings in the more it can be mantained.

@billmorris26134 ай бұрын
Some FREDs don’t flash in the daytime. And a lost communication with FRED would not stop the train. The train is not long enough to loose communication unless the battery is dead or very weak. After reading the title my first thought was they would probably go into emergency. But I never heard it go into emergency. Maybe they just stopped for a burger or they ran out of coffee and needed to fill up the old Thermos bottle.

When he train went by the 1221 did not sound like it was running or at most just idling. Car counts appear to be in the high 6ps. Also when this train left Crivitz it was not sorted out in order like they usually are especially the gondolas and storage cars in random locations. While watching Jaw tooths latest video on 4014 for today 9\13 a freight goes by while it's being serviced at night and @ 23:00 it sure looks like a center beam of Smart Siding rolling by. There also might be one @ 22:19. The timing between train watching and picking up the wife was tight. Whew!

Depends. If it's a fast moving freight we'd wait it out since it would have taken way longer to stop/cut the train than it was to wait. If it was slow, or stopped we'd have Conrail, or NYW&S cut the train if it was blocking off half the city. We've had Conrail/NJT/NYW&S stop trains because of incidents on their ROW (several at grade crossings throughout the city).
