Yeah, that Contrapoints reaction by Vanessa. was especially egregious because it just is so full of inaccurate information, out of context clips to try and make it look like Contrapoints supports bullying Rowling when she straight up opposed it, slut shaming, trying to portray transgender people as violent criminals and finally just a completely unsourced list of “what Contrapoints supports.” I’d be the first to point out that Natalie has been wrong or misguided multiple times, but that video by Vanessa was just terrible.

Fun fact: I did some digging and before Vanessa start making videos making fun of Transgender people, only a handful of her videos ever made it past a 1000 views. She's mostly doing it for attention and to get some hate filled subscribers. She's probably going to make a badly edited video out of this too and all I have to say is if they think a community based on hate and intolerance can last, maybe they should ask Trump Supporters how that goes. Update: After reading comments on Vanessa's video, I say all 35.9k + of us go and report her entire channel for hate speech, it's inspiring too many transphobes to come out of the dark.

Things were getting better on a macro level (pre-trump), it's just those pesky micro level, interpersonal relationships... This means that if someone murders me I can rest assured they *might* be charged with a hate crime and *might* (although unlikely) get convicted of the crime... I'll agree a page is "actually" turning when I can leave my house without worrying about being assaulted / murdered if I'm clocked, when I can go to a job interview and not be immediately dismissed because I'm Trans (in of course, not so many words...), or when perfect strangers don't feel entitled to make my gentiles their curiosity....

I totally relate to everything you were saying about the struggles we go through, Mathilda. It's not right that any of us have to experience being catcalled, and dealing with people being nasty on a regular basis, but when people find out we are transgender, it goes into the hate territory, and that is especially bad. In reality, as women, we all have our struggles to push through, and get society beyond, but we will never do it if we argue amongst ourselves, and throw shade and hate on people that hurt just as much if not more than we do. Also, it might actually help because the transphobe is actually supporting us by showing someone before transitioning when they weren't as happy. Therefore advocating for transition when necessary to be happier and live more as your authentic self. I am not saying if you are trans that you should let people see your pre transition photos if you aren't comfortable, I'm just saying in this case mathilda's photos of herself pre transition actually helped.

My read on Vanessa is basically that she hates the idea of a person transitioning and being feminine and beautiful, as you are. She has to invalidate you in any way she can. I recall a music video from 10-15 years ago that received an equal amount of likes to dislikes, and yet received billions of views. This was the first time the waters were tested (so to speak) in regards to social media and its reach. Clicks are clicks, and attention for the sake of traffic is just shitty business. The only way she could lose from this is for her attention to be inundated with so much backlash that it becomes the bigger news. Even then, she will still have a following that agree with her opinions/perspectives. The harm she is doing is far greater than her having a different opinion. I still don´t understand those people who attack people like us. What is there problem? I mean ok if they don´t like us. Ok i´m fine with that. But in the past few month i got attacked verbally on the street by such guys, too. I can live with their opinion. Why can´t they just live with my one. I don´t make live decisions for them. Just for me and myself. I even wouldn´t even try to convince anybody to go through transition like they always complain. If someone is not trans I´m more than happy for them. I wish i was born as a woman so that i wouldn´t have had to go through all this pain. But i´m not so i have to deal with it. Suppressing it did almost cost my live. So to transition did not only save my live but enabled me to heal my mind. It would be great if all transphobic people won´t try to suppress this from happening but be just happy for us that we finally can live our life peacefully and with grace.
