If you go off them, puberty kicks in right where it left off! And if I had known about puberty blockers and HRT (along with having the language to express my dysphoria) as an adolescent in the late '90s, I'd have transitioned a long time ago.

I love your youtube channel. Your so beautiful as a woman. People who are out to judge don't deserve acknowledgment. I started transitioning when I was 14 and all throughout middle school and high school I receive a lot of criticism from everyone even adults. People would judge me everywhere I went and I could feel it where ever I went. There where times when I would cry myself to sleep and wonder if there was something wrong with me and why I was mad this way. Now I'm 23 and I'm happily in a loving relationship with my straight boyfriend of 2 years and he's ok with the way I am and I love him even more for that.

The argument that sex and gender are the same is irrelevant. As a trans woman, with a degree in psychology, I'm curious to know why those who conflate a trans person with having a mental illness would ignore the fact that transitioning correlates with greater functionality whereas not transitioning correlates with greater dysfunctionality. The very definition of abnormal behavior has its roots in dysfunctionality.

Great Reaction Thanx I am born Hermaphrodite (aka Bigender, with the reproductive organs as well as DNA of both the Male and Female Humans), I feel more Female than Male, as my cycle always gave proof for that. However becoming pregnant is difficult, and very rare to complete in hermaphrodites due masculine hormones also being in the body at higher levels than in Female Humans. Yet I also am Male and feel masculine at the same time. Many people like antitrans hate me because I am not belonging to any of their decreed possibilities, even visibly, measurably, psychologically, mentally, hormonally, and any other refrence frame. And I am not alone. 1 in 20.000 people is globally Trans, 5 in 120.000 is intersexual, having some of the biologicals from birth of 'the other" gender than others determine what you "must" be, be it organs, brainstructure, reproductive organs, DNA. Many Men have both 1 testis as well as internally an Ovary (they are not aware off), as well mant Women have internally a testis instead an Ovary. And yes there is every year on earth a baby born from a Female without having sex, due having both organs. It maybe difficult, yet not impossible. However, many of these children (including the mother, and often also the father) are killed due the ridiculous daily bigotry and hatred based on religious, social or cultural strict displayed reference borders and if you succeed to talk to them, they often feel the intent to degrade further along the above mentione frames of reference. Pity that soo many people still refuse to accept reality is varied and not fitting within human doctrines. (similar to Flat-Earthers) So again thanx for clarifying this to others. Respect

Hi Mathilda, I thought those videos were utter tripe if I am honest. Typical US anti-trans based video funded by the extreme religious groups. Sadly in the UK if a child under 16 (the age that they would be given cross sex hormones, and gender re-assignment at 18) wants puberty blockers they either have to go through the courts to get them or have to go private and avoid the NHS all together (well if they can get anywhere due to the horrendous waiting lists) all thanks to Keira Bell and Mrs A 😥 Mel xx

@@Travel_and_kittens Keira Bell is a detransitioner (no problem with that, some people make mistakes) whom along with Mrs A. lead a successful court case (pending appeal) against the NHS Children's Gender Identity Service (GIDS) arguing that kids under 16 shouldn't be given the ability to consent to puberty blockers. Bell also advocates "talking therapies" to help trans teens reconcile their assigned gender (otherwise known as conversion therapy). For me, at 37 I am free to do as I please and have circumvented the NHS gatekeeping and waiting lists by being privileged (just) enough to be able to afford the private treatment. For Under 18's there are few options for private trans healthcare in the UK. Mel

Sex can inform gender but sex is biological and gender is psychological. A social construct. Gender roles tend to be ascribed to people based on their sex, traditionally even but that doesn't make it objective or empirical. Just a phenomena that happens.

In my opinion, the biggest issue of defending transgenderism and gender dysphoria is really the language. I have never and will never like when people say they "identify" as one or another gender but the actuality is that transgender people has no choice of explaining it in another way and I understand that! I understand and fully support people that is trans and the fundamental reason why transgenderism exist is because of gender norms. If everyone would be able to dress and look EXACTLY like they wanted (including the opposite gender) then there would be no need of identifying as the other gender. And saying that you shouldn't be able to transition which really is the only solution of treating gender dysphoria is just discriminatory of human expression. What I am trying to say is that I believe that the backlash on gender dysphoria really is an error in the language by pretending like "identifying" means "I am now this thing and it is your fault if you misgender me" when it really in my eyes means "expressing my connection of the typical standards taken by the opposite gender" WHICH LITERALLY JUST IS HOW WE PERCIEVE GENDER WHICH IS NOT BIOLOGICAL. And for the people that thinks this is a hate comment.. it isn't, I love Mathilda and everything she stands for, including the support for people with gender dysphoria. yeah i... really have trouble grasping this concept tbh. im definitely not transphobic, not against it or whatever. i have no reason _to_ be against it- its somebody elses choice and if i did have a problem with it itd be wrong of me. plus ive seen firsthand the suffering someone with dysphoria experiences. its heartbreaking, and seeing them after transition is like night and day in terms of how they feel about themselves. just want to make that clear. my main problem i think is where the line is drawn. sure anybody can identify as what they want, but at what point does it become unacceptable? can any man enter a female toilet simply by stating that he “identifies as female” (in that moment, also. his excuse is he felt female for the five minutes he was in there, for example), and it be completely acceptable? vice versa of course. and of course sports is one of the more famous topics- trans women typically having at least a slight edge over their biological counterparts, for example. then theres prisons, male and female. do trans women get sent to female prisons? what about men who identify as female due to legitimate dysphoria, but havent “transitioned”? what about men who identify as female as an exploit? the list goes on and on. the logical solution is of course to ignore identity when it comes to matters like this. sure you can identify as x and be called x in social situations, but when it comes to stuff like this, it goes by biology. but there are issues with that solution- trans people get denied gender exclusive job roles and get put on their biological team in a sport. i can imagine thatd really hurt someone. i dunno, if anyone knows anything that i dont feel free to comment. just to reiterate- i am _not_ transphobic, and i want to be fully supportive. i mean, i _am,_ but these issues just get to me sometimes. i want to learn, and to be on the correct side.

@Lisa haha i guess thats true. it has been 10 months so i have done some more learning turns out the gap between cis and trans people in sports isnt quite as large as people liked to spout (mostly right wingers go figure 🙄 unfortunately i went down a bit of a rabbit hole) and its almost completely removed after years. same goes for the bathroom issue (for the record i never thought people would go to lengths as you say but just use it as an excuse. not that theres ever really a way to tell ofc but that was sort of my point) its virtually never an issue and even when it is its usually just people who wouldve done it _anyway_ still not sure exactly about the prisons thing but considering those right wingers werent going on and on about how “real” (ugh) women were getting killed on masse by massive hulklike men who infiltrated the womens prisons… then i assume cases where this is ever an issue are virtually, if not zero 🤗

might be note worthy that in some places woman and female are used interchangeably. My identification, drive licences, was changed from Male to Female. He seems to mix the two words as if they mean the same thing. Female is used to describe biology for the most part which the first definition but it also has a second definition which shows that it is also used interchangeable with the word woman. so here is my understanding. There seems to be confusion because of the terminology that makes these anti-trans videos so topsy turvy. It is true that you can not change your genetic make up aka your sex. Gender though is a social construct that is placed upon each individual sex aka for males it's man, for females is woman. The way i understand it when some one is born in the wrong body it means they were born as the wrong sex. Gender is just the social term assigned to that particular sex. So while technically that does make you born as the wrong gender as well that's pretty much just sociological happenstance. In order to become closer to their true self they will go through gender reassigment so even if they can't change their DNA they can at least change their gender and physical appearance. You have to go through many steps before you can do this because it is a MAJOR change and some of the videos I've seen about people who de transitioned because they weren't, let's say counseled, well enough is very disheartening. Still, It's not like someone says I'm "insert gender" and then boom right into surgery.
