Civ 6 Leader Pass got 3 new leaders today, including Theodora of Byzantium - and her holy sites provide culture equal to their adjacency bonus. This enables a great starting strategy with Dance of the Aurora and Work Ethic. I'm Playing Civ 6 on Deity difficulty as always!

Try to get Hildegard of Bingen (a Great Scientist) if you can because it makes the holy site you use it on give science equal to its adjacency bonus

Farms also provide adjacency for Holy Sites. You don't necessarily need tundra.

Yeah, I was going to point this out as well. Just plan the holy sites around the flat lands, don't even have to bother with tundra.

True, but this way I don't have to wait for farms, I get the bonus instantly. Pretty big deal early in the game, gives you a lot of extra momentum.

Good job, liked / subscribed. I enjoy games without mods, just pure showcase of a specific civ! She seems like a really interesting leader.. Divine spark + her ability to start getting prophet points as soon as she builds her Holy Site should make it easy to get a first religion in most games (bar Stonehenge). I'll try choral music and culture victory :D

@@InvadeleYogurt bro i fucking know. Been playing civ 6 since release day. I don't need meta Production bonuses re-iterated to me like im some noob. Work Ethic is the most overdone religious strat in the entire game. And unless you get lucky with a good start and adjacency Pantheon, Work Ethic isn't even an valid option. It's only even worth it when you have obscenely high adjacency bonuses, which again, usually require a Pantheon that's hard to get. There's so much more to religion than just clicking Work Ethic every game. Literally everyone and their uncle in the civ community has been blabbering about Work Ethic Theodora as if this isn't the 10,000th time someone's mentioned a WE strat. It's tired. If Marbo hadn't gotten a nice terrain start, he probably wouldn't have gone WE and we wouldn't even be having this conversation. My case in point. Back to Choral Music and World Church, let's say you get +3-5 Holy Site adjacency in your main cities, which is pretty reasonable with base adjacencies and some district planning. Rush the card that doubles Holy Site bonus. With Theodora ability that's a minimum of +6 Culture. Choral Music with Shrine and Temple is around another +6 Culture. Let's say early game the city is getting a measly +2 Culture from world Church. That's a minimum of +14 Culture from a SINGLE city, and quite early at that. And this is not including city state suzerains, Pingala, Amenities, wonder bonuses, etc.

@@BulletMagnetJB God of Healing actually did save me from a really tough match once 😂. I was Poland, a horde of Horseman Barbarians came out of nowhere at the same Greece tried to come at me. I was getting overrun as my units were getting into scraps faster than they could promote or heal up. All I had to my name was some Tundra tiles and some holy sites. The Pantheon choice came up and I was like.... fuck it, and picked God of Healing. Having units that are near-death heal to full in like 1 or 2 turns was pretty fun and useful tbh. That was the first and only time I ever used GoH.

They don't. You get yields from them instantly, as opposed to having to get builders, use them to build farms, which all takes time. Momentum is a huge deal in Civ 6, so anything that gives you significant yields at the start of the game makes an immense difference.

I don't know if you've ever done this in game? But you get two separate dams down there for each river meaning you can get a +10 industrial zone, or a +12 even?!

I've seen some games where there have been 6 dams/aqueducts around an industrial zone. I think with other modifiers it ended up giving +40 adjacency bonus or something crazy.

Maybe with the industrial zone between the rivers and could have some aqueducts around it too if the wheat gets chopped. Quarries on the stone could potentially also boost later in the game.
