As an avid knitter, this is the first one of these arm blankets I actually like! Lots of people use straight roving, which is un-spun wool. It's beautiful and fluffy and soft, but if you wash it even once--game over. It's pilled, felted, warped, just a mess. And even if you don't wash it ever, roving can't stand up to the regular wear and tear of a throw blanket. This yarn looks solid and durable!
@graceclover86972 ай бұрын
can you take it to a dry cleaner? or is it still too delicate? idk how dry cleaning works 😅
@joannemadden74492 ай бұрын
How do you start, any tutorials please. Thank U ❤
@ecamville29282 ай бұрын
@@joannemadden7449 I learned here on KZbin from RJ Knits, Nimble Needles, and Sheep & Stitch! They're the top results when you search "beginner knitting" on here. I learned with two chopsticks and a shoelace, and then bought some actual yarn, hahah. Good luck!
@jequirity12 ай бұрын
@@graceclover8697 No. Roving is just a bundle of fibers all lined up together, it's not actual yarn until it's spun. Blankets made with roving start to look gnarly after only a week or so of laying around because, well, it's just a bunch of loose fibers. They start to tangle up and pill, and they catch dust like nobody's business. You need to spin it into yarn if you want any of the fibers to stay together.
@simplyabnormal628929 күн бұрын
@@joannemadden7449 I would just get some worsted yarn and maybe a size 8ish needle. KZbin tutorials are helpful, but there are a lot of guided books that are also good, especially the ones intended for children. However, if you know someone who knits, an in-person teaching is probably your best option! Hope this helps :)

If it makes you feel better, every knit expert I’ve ever heard mention them say this kind of huge knit with roving yarn doesn’t last very long and gets really ugly really quickly.
@weirdhousewivesclub3 ай бұрын
@@aisling7244it looks like the yarn she used is a tube sewed up that's stuffed with fiber fill which will last much longer, so it's much better for this application, but roving is def not a good thing to use!

I'm glad that looks like some actual stuffed fabric or something because I remember people were making these out of literal unspun wool roving for a while...which will just come apart over time and be a fibrous mess (plus would be ridiculously expensive).

here is a tip.. you can make your own big ball of yarn.. with just a couple of balls of ( what ever yearn you want. but you need to use 2-4 at the time) if you want it to be thick. 1 will also do, but it will not be fluffy as and thick when using only 1 roll. and using to many will make it too stiff .. all you have to is to finger knitting your yarn together and then make a giant ball. then you can arm knit with your finger kit ball.. its easy. there are plenty of videos here on youtube that shows how to finger knit. and also arm knit.
