Great vid! Ahhh - I remember ASOS back in the early 2000's doing genuine "as seen on screen" stuff. Hopefully they can turn it 'round....

You make some valid points: - Restructuring is costly - Somewhat risky strategy - High board turnover ASOS has some serious challenges ahead. However, you make a few generalizations, which needs further explanations. For example, ASOS applies a Scale Economy Shared strategy. The low margins and continuously increasing revenue are all on purpose. Your approach is to never invest in a low margin business. Please, do yourself a favor and study the business models of Costco and Amazon. Every investor's dream is to get into this companies early

I hear you Mark, and I appreciate your input. Not a generalisation, just a personal investment preference. I'm not keen on low profit businesses. The low margin approach may have worked for Amazon, but they've made it highly profitable. ASOS on the other hand achieve 3% earnings on a good year. Too thin for me. But different approaches to investing is what makes a market. I appreciate not everyone will agree with me. Especially if they hold a position in something I don't fancy. ✌️😁

@@chrischillingworth I tend to like SES businesses, because these allow me to buy an asset and then sit on it for years to come. And BTW Amazon made it highly profitable because of their Flywheel strategy and investments in services (AWS). ASOS does not has the volume needed (yet) to apply a similar approach. Anyway. Good luck with your investment journey

Genuinely appreciate the insight Mark. Not just saying that. Always good to hear alternative views. Thank you for watching and getting in touch. 👌

If they can ride out the next few years it's going to pay off. I've bought some at £5.50 a share on the basis that Chris explained, if they go into administration and liquidate i've made a good profit, though if they follow a similar story to Costco/Amazon then it's a 10+ bagger in the long run. I do think with the likely long term inflation backdrop it's going to be hard for them to weather constantly increasing costs but that's the punt.

I used to shop on ASOS quite a lot. They found a good spot in the market between your Primark and Boohoo price bracket and more premium brands. I noticed in the last couple years their clothing ranges were going downhill big time, trying to capture some boohoo market share and it completely put me off. Im sure its the same for a lot of other people too.

Thanks Thomas. Ultimately the numbers will tell the story, they always do.

They suck now. 2017 was its peak. Its done. Boohoo is also terrible
