The simplest way to make the holding areas larger is to get rid of the slopes, that will do a lot to increase the space in the holding areas. This s something that tank designers realized early on, while slopes hulls and turrets are great for adding extra armor protection without making the armor thicker and heavier, it comes at the cost of interior space. Since armor protection is not a concern with a mouse trap,. there's no reason to not make the ends of the holding areas have 90 degree angles.

I’m thinking a trap like this on top of a bucket. More like a Ferris wheel design. Once they go in they can’t come out as it turns, they drop into a bucket.

I'm not really a fan of your fishing and survival and other non-mousetrap content. However, I'm a huge fan of your replication of antique traps in order to preserve the old ones. Your woodworking is immaculate and it would be nice to see an episode of building one of the old traps, carpentry and all.

@@jesseherbert2585 That's nice. I agree with Whoozerdaddy -- I find this type of video much more engaging: I'm intrigued by human ingenuity and find mouse trap effectiveness, design, and history interesting and that's why I subscribed to Shawn's channel. While I don't begrudge Shawn for branching out and creating other types of content, I only watched one or two non-mousetrap related videos from this channel before ignoring them completely -- there are plenty of other channels that focus on or teach survival skills; I haven't yet found another mousetrap-related channel run by an expert of Shawn's caliber and I, too, would like to see more videos of Shawn recreating historical mousetraps from start to finish. tl;dr: I came for Mousetrap Mondays; I stay for Mousetrap Mondays.

Also fun fact for your rats, the wheel isn’t only for exercise, it’s also a big source of enrichment and fun, wild mice, rats, shrews, and all types of rodents love to run on wheels, the experiments in the wild even showed that things like frogs, toads, and even slugs and snails where seen using the wheels. Animals just love running on wheels, not even for exercise, they just love doing it
