Back seats are quite small, so it’s the trunk space, even the trunk space is most than enough for most people. My wife had and macan GTS 2017 and she changed it to a GLC only due to space in the back. Still the Macan it’s the best looking SUV out there, and the engine in the GTS was 😍

The first shipments and allocations for the 2022’s were actually the base cars. They sell way more lightly optioned base Macans than anything else. Given they know where their bread is buttered it isn’t hard at all to a get a lightly optioned one. Your tester actually has a lot of options. In fact that matte texture on the dash panel is leather and that is a fairly pricey upgrade over the standard Piano Black (though wood and Aluminium are now available at no extra cost)

Actually........ You're mistaken. That vehicle has partial leather, and the dash is a mix of textured soft touch vinyl (Mojave beige) on the lower, and black on the upper, with the black brushed aluminum as the interior trim which can be an assortment of different materials, like carbon fiber, or painted, ect. The option you are thinking of is a $2,000+ dollar option where the lowers in that Mojave beige color is actually swapped out for smooth leather. It's confusing, but once you see one in person that has the standard interior next to one with extended full leather.... You'll be able to get a better feel for what Porsche means by their varying interior "trim" options.

@@9fiveb180 I was speaking on the area where the wood, Aluminum, or carbon would go. This particular one has it in smooth leather which is optional and very rare on these. If you go back and look carefully you’ll see that it’s a matte material that looks soft. Non-GTS Macans are not available with black aluminum, just the regular silver kind which is now a no cost option Stateside.

A year late to conversation but the Macan production line doesn't work that way. The Macan and Panamera are produced at the same time, on the same production line in Leipzig. It produces different spec cars and SUVs sequentially as needed. There are documentaries where they show how different colors, engines, spec and vehicle type fluctuate on the production line. A black Panamera Turbo with red alcantara can be followed by a white Macan with a plaid leather interior.

Just got this 2022 macan 1 week ago! Absolutley love it as a first time porsche owner. So far everything is pretty similar to what you said. I noticed the same thing you mentioned about the engine, but roughly 1000kms in I feel like its starting to get smoother as I drive it more on a daily basis. Plus the car is starting to pop and bruble alot more in sport mode 1st gear 3k-4k range.

We purchased a macan base with a premium package back in 2017. We ordered our 2024 the same way. We tried to convince ourselves with cheapper price tag on the X3, GLC and Q5 but, no way you could replace a Macan with those ones. Better of paying more now than regreting soon. The only reason we kept our 2017 for 8 years is that we still love it buts its time to replace it.

I leased a base 2021 Macan and absolutely love it. Completely agree that it is a starter Porsche meant to get you into the brand. I can state that it is difficult for me to plan on driving anything else moving forward (I realize I am lucky to be in the situation) ... I hope to upgrade to a Taycan next. Overall the drive and feel for the road are unlike anything else I have driven. It's a fun car to drive and the brand experience at the dealership is top notch. No upselling, they know what they offer and are excited for new buyers as they know they will get you hooked. Macan EV will be awesome to see soon!

6:15: haha ... I bought a new base Macan as my *third* Porsche (after two Panameras) because it's the best value in a Porsche, by far ... And the engine is excellent, lots of pep and good acceleration, as you'd expect from nearly 300 lb-ft of torque... People get obsessed with 400, 500, 600 hp, but seriously those levels of power are unnecessary for people if you don't drive on the Autobahn or on tracks; people tend to lose track of reality. The base Macan is a seriously good car to drive, including at high speeds (very stable and planted). I almost bought a Macan S, then decided that it really wasn't that much better than a base Macan to warrant the much-higher price -- after multiple test drives of both. And the base gets way better gas mileage than does the S.

Always go for the S - the 4 cylinder is ok, but ist feels it struggles with the car and has to rev high to move. Fuel economy is almost same between base and S. The V6 feels so much better.

Buy the previous model in GTS spec, or if you get lucky and find a Turbo with all of the GTS’s features (namely the air suspension) PLUS sport chrono, get that one. NEVER buy a base Macan. The S at least gets you PDK, but the real magic of the Macan is that the air suspension (standard in the GTS, but only a 50/50 shot on the used Turbos) let’s you drive to vmax while staying all the way low. When you put it all together the previous model GTS is the best all around 1 vehicle buy under $50k…and no gloss back dash.

i built an S in the US. came exactly to what i spec’d out. i ordered it in August and it arrived in december- which was earlier than the expected date they gave me of April. i love the S- it’s the goldilocks version of the 3 trims. it gets you the engine of last years GTS, with the cleaned up interior of 2022. my only gripe is no full screen carplay. that stinks

@@himalayapatel2052 i agree 100%. the macan has carplay it’s just not full screen which is annoying. there are widgets to the right of it that will hide in any other instance, but car play is reduced to 2/3 screen. it’s usable, but when driving you really want big dumb buttons. large tap targets. touch is un-intuitive when driving- any road noise or even a slight turn makes it hard to tap. i wish car companies realized carplay and android auto are always going to be superior. it’s everything on your phone (music/podcasts/audible) easily accessible and better gps apps than anything they could install. just let drivers do what they want to do with that giant screen you put in there.

When we went to buy our Macan (in 2019), we had base model in mind. As we were adding options, price quickly rose up (because Porsche). So the porsche guy goes like: "look, it is getting into high Macan S numbers, we do not have macan S currently, but we have Macan GTS in shop. Wouldn't you want to try it?". 25 minutes later, we were ordering Macan GTS :D. You dont have to sell porsches, these cars sell themselves :D :D :D. (Also, incredible car. I am in love.)

I would make the jump personally. I went from a Benz S550 to a Panamera 4S Sport Turismo and it's been a solid 4 years and nearly 40k miles. The build quality that Porsche has is superior to any other german car I've been in and it has also been reliable as well. You and the wife will like the Macan!

As always, I enjoy your videos. I’m contemplating trading my 2020 718 in for a 2022 base Macan that’s pretty well equipped, and beautiful. I was hopeful to retain the sports car element as I’ve had 4 Porsche sports cars within a utility vehicle. But when you said current Porsche owners might consider it a downgrade to get a base Macan as in essence the driving experience isn’t the same, it made me rethink that pursuit.

I have a 2021 Macan GTS spyder alloys and optional carmine red paint..love it from day 1. the only problem is rear leg room. i am 6 feet tall and anyone above 5.10 and above, forget about sitting behind me. boot space is good for all my needs with a small family. went on a road trip for 7 days up north and it worked fine.

If one feels the 4 banger is down on power, that is easily solved for $500 with an APR ECU tune- brings it up to 310 hp/360 tq. This is a VW EA888 engine after all, so ECU tunes are not new for this engine. Probably other companies offer ECU tunes as well. I've had APR and Unitronic Stage I on my GTI's, and it makes a world of difference.

I've never ordered base cars but I have a few orders from Porsche and they are all in time . Basically 3-6 months for 911 GT3 .

I traded 2018 Macan for my 2020 C43 GLC ....on Friday traded the C43 for a base 2022 Macan.....lost 100 HP and would not know it....and the ride and steering is head and shoulders better than the C43 Couch....eerrr GLC

They really needed to update this. I've driven the former Macan on multiple occasions as a service loaner and it felt like it was half the price new. That 4 cylinder whine tho.

That button on the center console is LCA. If it had LKA it would have a little steering wheel on it.

Another great one from TSP. Love the Macan! The little clock above the center stack is a must have for blasting down the 401 during rush hour. That is how you know you have arrived.

I would be happy with a car that doesn’t have lane keep assist. I pay attention just fine, I don’t want the steering wheel being controlled by a computer. I do like the cross traffic alerts when I have the signals on, though.

Being a Vag-Guy I always hav love the Macan & this is the best version I've seen even in base but that price tag is heartbreaking 😳
