I like how you really involve the owners of these cars more than other channels. Were you almost attacked by a leafblower?
@Altek15 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud! I figure that the owner is just as important as the car they built and the stories they tell, I just can't recreate them myself. As for the leaf blower, yes! They normally scare the hell out of me in any decent car but in that and especially a convertible, I was horrified. Thankfully the guy stopped, which I was very grateful for. Always great to see you in the comments by the way, thanks for watching!

I'm in the middle of doing a frame off restoration of my 1960, which I bought in 1968. Car has been in my barn sitting for 36 years. When asked what I thought what the car was worth, I always said what ever someone is willing to pay for it. Posting date 7/8/2023. Thanks, Eddie, gave me food for thought, beautiful blue Vette you have.

I'm loving Eddie. 🙂 Sound bloke and great philosophy. You can tell Eddie has real talent and a lifetime's experience. To get a finish like that on fibre glass. Oh and then for the craic like he paints the vinyl, metal and plastic. And _matches_ the bloody colour. 😮 And that's before we get to his mechanic mate. Runs the engine for days to get it right? Skillz all over the place. I always loved the design of the exhausts and the way they poke through the rear bumpers. 🙂 Gorgeous design all over, with not a bad curve on it and every bit as good as any European car design of the time and way ahead of most. If that had a Ferrari badge on it it would be worth bazillions. To me that car _is_ "50's America" on wheels. Great video as always Sir.

Eddie was a great addition to my channel as well as his car. He was excited about the whole thing and really excited to show his car off to me. Great experience overall, I'm glad you enjoyed what I put together. I meant to make more of a mention of the tailpipes because that really is such an awesome design that I haven't seen on other cars. I agree, any other badge would have that price sky rocket but they're definitely worth a pretty penny still. Kudos to him for driving it though, it's more than a lot of other owners can say.

What a beauty! All around! Tell me it ain't so that he drives in winter..... The great big steering wheels are great. Had a 59 Olds land yacht 4 door with a huge steering wheel. At first I didn't like it but it definitely grew on me. Thanks tons for sharing.
@Altek15 жыл бұрын
His rule is as long as there's no salt, he'll take it out. He doesn't want to destroy the car obviously but he does intend on using it every chance he gets. Those old wheels really add character to the car. They can be a bit tricky to handle the car with since I'm used to smaller wheels with more grip but the handling was so welcoming, you didn't care what was doing the steering. I like how you call your previous 59 Olds a land yacht, cause that's what they were. I'll see if I can't find one of those bad boys to review to bring back some nostalgia for ya. Happy to share! And thanks for watching!

Thanks bud! Eddie did a great job on the car, and i can't stress it enough, it drove like a modern car. Purists might hate that, but if you build a car for driving, and you drive it, i can respect that. We’re staying warm out in Southern Cali alright lol, with all the damn fires blazing around us it’s hard to catch a break. We need some rain to stop the arsonists our here setting the mountains on fire. It’s ridiculous! Not sure if the news is covering any stories on our side of the country, but we’re doing our best to survive. My heart and prayers go out to all the firefighters and people that lost their homes. Its tragic brother, but we’re staying strong. Best of luck with everything my man, you take care of yourself and I’ll be waiting for another awesome upload. -Steve

I love this guy's attitude towards so called "automotive purists." It's his car and he will do whatever the hell he wants with it. It maybe seem worthless to the "purists," but I can see that it's absolutely priceless to Mr. Eddie.
@Altek15 жыл бұрын
Right! I'm telling you, the third time I saw that car in a week just parked in the middle of an apartment complex parking lot, I was like, okay, what the hell is going on here. You just don't see cars like that out that often. I get the point of the purists if the car was absolutely mint with like zero miles. But it needed work and he wanted it his way. He did it tastefully while maintaining the essence of the car and that's what's important. Eddie is doing it the right way. Build it and drive it, simple as that. Thanks for watching bud.

@@Altek1 I remember seeing on Park Ave in NYC an exotic sports car ( Ferrari or McLaren , I don't recall) just parallel parked on the street . I guess in that neighborhood there folks who dont give a $h1t. An exotic to some is just an appliance to the owner. If you make a regular income you by an accord and park it anywhere. If you have an excessive income, you buy an exotic and still park it anywhere.

@@joshpinchuk7061 that was the same thing in Cali whenever I visit my brother. Just Ferrari's parked like Toyota Corollas and dirty as hell. I don't agree the Vets of that era are muscle cars. They were built to be sports cars as an alternative to the Europeans. You can install an LS engine, beef-up the frame, suspension, stirring, and drive train and convert them into a "muscle car", but they were introduced as American sports cars. The 59 is by far my favorite year. This Vet is beautiful, and any gear-head would love to have it in their collection.
