Wow, my time to be useful again, by providing translations of the Japanese level titles! And some other translations as well, because there's a lot to unpack here! 8:08 - It's easy, you know? Lol Note: Yes, in Japanese internet slang w means lol. To laugh is 笑う, pronounced as warau. That's where the w comes I think. 11:40 - Last 500sec speed run, smooth and refreshing, long section 13:36 - Huh? 17:30 - Desc: It's not that difficult? The level loops around. 21:14 - The comment: "Yay! Yatta!" 21:24 - Last 500sec speed run, smooth and refreshing, revised spot Desc: So fun 21:41 - Last 500sec speed run, smooth and refreshing, text screen 22:32 - Last 500sec speed run, smooth and refreshing, second screen x3 Desc: The level makes 3 loops. I made this more intense than the second screen I already uploaded. 23:49 - Last 500sec speed run, smooth and refreshing, level for practicing screens 2-7 23:57 - The comment: "Fruit punch! Is there any more of it?" I got a bit carried away with translating stuff from the screen, but I wanted to offer all this this as evidence to support Ryu's suspicion: yes, I think those levels are sections of a massive, insane speedrun concoction. And indeed, some levels seem to have been uploaded to practice specific sections. Crazy stuff! I kinda want to see Ryu tackle that monster of a level, but I'm also worried for his sanity. Maybe that would be asking too much for our entertainment. EDIT: I just figured out what the fruit punch comment means after rewatching parts of the video. Around 23:48 when Ryu scrolls past the levels if you pause, you can see a few levels titled "Fruit Punch!" from one to four. The commenter probably wanted more levels in that series

I have answers to those questions: The level is partitioned by segments: the creator is not good enough to get through all 500 seconds of his speedrun so he separated the level into parts with pipes and doors, so you only have to beat 10-100 seconds at a time. You need to walljump off the pipe, into the underside of the shellmet becoming Buzzy Mario, twirl to stall down to the donut, double jump into the spring and underneath the spike, the shellmet will protect you from the damage, you can then walljump off the one-way right to in-between the two spikes another walljump into the second sideways spring, twirl to the top. Also for the second to last level with the clouds and springs: you can triple jump to the top spring, by going back and forth between the springs and the starting platform... but the way you did it is the faster yet harder route.

I swear to you that I've seen him beat this 500 second speed run level, I tried going to his channel and looking for this specific level but couldn't find it since he's played many more after this. Hey Ryu, it might be useful for you to learn or look up a few Mario terms in Japanese, so you have a clue about what the JP levels are about. I've recently played Mario Maker myself and it helps me from time to time. English words are only written in katakana, so you only need to learn 1 (of 3) alphabets. For example: Course = コース スピンジャンプ = Spinjump スピードラン or スピラン = Speedrun 一隠しブロック = Hidden block Just saying, could be useful.

We should try my gamemode where we use a die roller to select 6 Super Expert levels at random then you give yourself 100 lives to get through them. You keep track of your 1-ups and coins so that you get for yourself +1, +2, or +3 1-Ups per level and as tradition you can get +1 1-up if your total coin count resets at 100 (but caps at 3 per level). So that it becomes exact to 100-man as possible; you cannot look at the expanded thumbnail in the more info page. (you may also beat an easy super world to record getting Peach)

Ah man, that level at the 13:40 mark is very similar to one of the first levels I created in October 2019. I think I called it Slip and Slide Spring Jump (I can't remember actually) and it used this gimmick, but I feel that I used this "spring boost" in a more stylish manner. It was uncleared for the longest time, but my Nintendo Switch Online account has lapsed and I have not renewed it yet so I don't know if it is still uncleared. But I made my level in the Super Mario World style. Ryu, I do know how many times you've jumped at that wall, because my level was 3 spring jumps much like that. And it makes me sad to know that he hated this level, because I made my spring level for Ryu thinking he would enjoy that gimmick.

Ryu forgot you can drop items in NSMB, the shell was used for a shell drop :P Edit: It's easy to forget, since they're pretty rare in SMM2 as compared to commonplace in SMM1, rip spinning with items in SMW still.

You should team up with other creators like lilkirbs, Panga, etc to take on these levels. Like the avengers but for Mario maker

I definitely feel like the shellmet was not for wearing, maybe it’s for a shell jump. Spin with the shell in hand, release at the spring, and shell jump up.

With that very hard level that looked impossible, it still annoyed me how Ryu never thought to spinjump off the helmet.

Lol, the dude's 500 sec speedrun is his one level super world. I want to see if Ryu could take it on and see how true it is. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

I am almost certain I've seen this "500s speedrun" set of levels in a KZbin video before. Can't remember from who, though.
