US Navy did a study back in the late 1970s. If a beard was maintained to the navy standards of the time I was in the Navy it did not interfere with oba mask or mk5 gas mask or EAB mask seals.

When I went in (76) we had beards on submarines and it wasn't gas masks, but EAB's, essentially air fed respirators. We had to have them trimmed so that we could maintain a seal. But then we went PC and lost the priviledge.

I'm 37 years old I just enlisted in the Navy Reserve. Long story. I've also spent 11 years of my life working for the state of North Carolina. Government will never stop spending and wasting money. It's in their DNA. Why do you think we're giving all these weapons to Ukraine? So we'll have a legitimate reason to replace them with new ones. Wash, rinse, and repeat. There are 2 things governments are excellent at. Wasting money and litigation. State, Federal, or Local.

As a female, I think the fact that they still haven’t allowed beards is a crime. Half of these guys walk around with terrible mustaches thinking they look good. Lol A full beard is much more attractive than a flimsy mustache.

I have to comment on this real bad why? The reason navy veteran and still receiving messages from recruiters to go back and my answer nope. The real reason why the navy is underman is because it’s so political that it was seen by the whole world during Covid and also the promotion is so political. Now for the explanation the political Covid part. When Covid was hitting real bad the Secnav decided that it’s better if all the sailors are sick from Covid and fired the captain to which he thinks double dragon is worst. Now let’s introduce promotion part which i am an example. Since the whole everybody should be equal the navy is promoting more woman to promote equality. I don’t have a problem with that but the problem is there promoting the wrong women. Now what I mean by that is the biggest one promoting women that wants to be pregnant and be out of the service. The second biggest thing which is I’m a example. Me having 2 pins ESWS and EAWS also miss the test by .3 oh and last chance to be promoted from E3-E4 because my rate was so full didn’t got promoted. Guess who they give the promotion to? Answer to a girl who just recently been rated who barely knows the rate with no pins. What the navy has taught me it doesn’t matter how many pins you have, how strong your knees is or the work you put in. What matters is who they want to promote. So basically the new thing now is put a ring on that person to advance.
