You see bro, we as devotees don't have any rights to change the Rehat Maryada and turn towards the path followed by any one Guru on our own. Moreover the 10 gurus aren't considered 10 other people, they are all just reincarnations of one light, coming in different times. I hope that answers your questions. And if you are thinking about if it is legit or not, Rehat Maryada is formulated by SGPC, an organisation responsible for deciding the rules of Sikhism. And it makes the rules according to the Gurus.A Kirpan is not made for only participating in wars. It is made for a Sikh as a weapon of self defence in times of distress. Moreover, if the Governments of different countries couldn't question the use of Kirpan, I see no point in you and me arguing about whether it should be legit or not.

If my Sikh brother had requested that policeman to not put handcuffs on him because he is a student and he will walk with him politely or the policeman had done his work more sincerely by understanding & listening to that kid what he was trying to say about his religion, this whole scenes will be different and could be resolved then 'n there. Sorry but it doesn't matter if it's his religion. Religion is not allowed in American schools, and neither are weapons. If he wants to practice his religion, he can do it in his own home, but he came to this country, he better abide by this country's laws. Also, you think just because he told the officer he would walk out with him peacefully that the officer should just believe him when how many times have they heard this exact same thing before and the officer let's his guard down and ends up getting seriously injured, or killed? That isn't how things work.
