I used to enjoy a lot to Kayak in real life, and this game is incredible with the physics (it's mind blowing that you can push yourself away from rocks with the paddle, as simple and obvious as it is, and the game actually respond in a very realistic way, with the kayak also tilting for the force applied!) and the vibe that ignited again that passion!

Mirage is great but could be better. Whitewater VR helps fill that void tremendously. Imagine the two combing forces. BUT WAIT! Now imagine they add kayak fishing to it all. Now THAT would be a top tier fully realized kayaking game. If you really want to go the extra mile just lump in Subside to the mix. Nothing would be able to beat it.

White water area is awesome, as is the whole location, but that zone needs more actual "white water" foam from going over, around and against the rocks. Can you take your hands off the paddle to dip into the water or pick up the duck? I would love this to experience something like this in VR. It would be great if the developers did river explorations for tons of well known locations.

Amazing - spent many hours in the PCVR version of Kayak and loved it - show my kids, etc. And super excited about the update. And Beardo - I've watched your channel since you were doing your first "Will it VR" series - and huge fan. And I'm a Kickstarter backer of the Oculus DK1. So HUGE VR fan. But it kind of feels lately the world has shifted to watching and waiting for advances in A.I. (not ChatGPT, but generative images, videos, games, characters) - and then VR. I think VR is going to make a HUGE comeback - for a.i. powered NPC's, UE5 making houses, cities and civilizations powered by generative (environmental and characters) - and we're all going to be jacking into that new world - but doesn't it feel - still a big stagnant when it comes to AAA game devs dropping captivating new games/content? Still - I will always watch everything you drop, and hope to see exciting things coming up - don't worry - the future is so bright if you stick with it as a content leader :)

I had an idea to make an ore (shorter than the real thing of course) to fix the controllers to simulate the feel of an ore but also to half fill with water so that the end you stick down into the water is heavier than the other end and wonder if it would trick your brain into feeling the drag of the water on the ore in the game 🤔

I use a I7- 11700 F cpu with a AMD 6900xt and 32 gb ddr 5 ram . which according to online reviews is about a 4070 equivalent. I'm playing it on very high settings and getting good , stable graphics no pop-up and the lighting and colors are great! You will be fine.Oh yeah, quest 3 too.

To those lurking in the comments.. despite his praise.. I think you should be wary of this "game".. might wanna wait for a sale cause there's really not too much to the game. Visuals are nice but that doesnt provide much after youve done stuff a lot. Get a stick, tape your controllers to the stick .. and you now have a kayaking simulator. Playing this game with unconnected controllers is missing the brief. I am downloading this DLC now, cannot wait to try the whitewater. EDIT: Fantastic new level. Beautiful, plenty of wildlife. The whitewater section is a lot of fun. The level is long. Getting in early has allowed me to be top 10 in one of the races, haha. Playing this on my 3080 and Quest 2, and it still looks absolutely gorgeous.

Just tried it. It feels super dark. In the bottom of those canyons I can't even see the water of my kayak. I am probably doing something wrong with the settings, but I couldn't figure it out. Also, my antivirus blocked the exe file at first. It's naturally a false positive, but still annoying to have to handle. The rapids are quite fun, if you want to spend all your time going backwards :D Probably just need some training in that one.

I have tried this title, in summer 2022. It had a microstutter on every.paddle.stroke ! It's very subtle and also very naucea-inducing within minutes. I play FPS titles HL:Alyx or Hubris for hours just fine, as well as say Elite Dangerous (not played that in years tho). But I'll say I have my VR legs working. It seems they never fixed that, at least not in the period I had this title (or have they afterwards? Idk, but I suspect not - I'm not trying to be negative, but as only a few people had this issue I guess they never did anything with it, which I can understand, reluctantly :p). At the time I had a GTX 1080 Ti and an Oculus Quest 1 (still have the headset). Turning my head side-to-side was fine, motion forward etc. was fine, except when I turned with the kayak as you do a little bit with every paddle stroke. Otherwise it was a fantastic and breathtaking game, but I had to let this one go. I also haven't played much VR lately either btw (I go through HL:A once a year or so and that's basically it, give or take).

FYI you would be dead in real life if you reacted like that when you came across the bear. MOVE AWAY FROM THE BEAR, is the thing you want to do. And it's more male or mother bear that is what you should consider.
