It was brief, but there was a scene in Skypiea with the Klabautermann repairing the ship, but we didn't hear the Klabautermann speak at that point.

The Merry's spirit. While we never heard her voice, it was always implied that SOMETHING happened to really make Usopp pass out back then. This arc loves hitting ya in the heart, especially as we're gearing up towards the true climax >:)

Thank you very much for taking the conversation into account - the sound artifacts have completely disappeared!!! Bless the beginning of the development of KZbin channels, when the connection between the viewer and the author is still strong.

Correct. Its German in origin - though the irl myth deviates slightly in that the spirit is both helpful and mischievous. As superstitions tend to go everything is associated with the ships spirit in some way: The captain notices something creaking in time and that ends up saving the ship? Thank the Klabautermann! "Where is the hammer I just put down gone? I know it was right THERE!" Must have been the Klabautermann!, you get the picture. Its a fairy. If Tinkerbell taught us anything they can be little shits at time :D

the main reason usopp didn't bring up the klabautermann before was because he wasn't even sure if what he saw was REAL or if he was somehow deluding himself, as part of his general self-doubt in this arc. He was worried the straw hats wouldn't beleive him, or even worse mock himm because he's a negative man who always thinks the worst. you gotta understand CP9 are MEAN. They're jsut looking for an excuse to hurt people at this point, it seems, as well as to show off their power after having to hold back for five years.

1:55 i love this part. Franky literally forces Usopp to see what he is refusing to accept. It's actually selfish of Usopp in a way imo, bc he's not seeing how much Merry is breaking down, he just keeps projecting his delusion onto her. I also love the symbolism of most of the dmg being beneath the surface. Merry is falling apart while carrying them on her back. This part very well done i feel. 5:18 strong agree this part's beautiful

Man, I love your reactions to the series. It is implied that we didn't see the entire scene with the Klabautermann in Skypiea that's why we didn't knew she talked to Usopp.

Klaubatermann - "In real world myths, Klabautermann is said to be a male seafaring spirit that aids ships of crews that truly deserve it, rather than being an incarnation of the ship" from the One Piece wiki. It's a German and Dutch legend. And as has already been noted, no we did not hear her speak in Skypeia. Usopp needed time. That's all, just time. But he couldn't articulate that and Luffy couldn't see it, so here we are. Now he's facing a group that his own crew couldn't handle.
