As a big BSD fan…ngl I was super shocked it got anime of the year. Don’t get me wrong, the last two seasons have been fantastic, peak BSD imo, but it was still super surprising to hear since its not really as well-known in the broader anime community as most other titles that came out this year

@@Mattyiceee It’s very positive. The fandom can be really rabid at times, but they mean well. Considering the anime is caught up and went past the Manga for its last episode in season 5, its reputation is well earned as anime of the year. It’s a very slow start though.

BSD really great dude, im saying this and i know you've heard it as a description for many anime, but for this one especially, it really does get better with every season, so if you at least enjoyed season 1, you will actually love the series. Much love

Fun fact: One of the characters in this show, Chuuya Nakahara (VA, Kisho Taniyama) sung some of these openings. I don't remember which ones exactly, but i'm pretty sure he at least sung the season two op.

I'm a major book nerd, so I was seriously hooked by getting to know the authors and their works. However this is much, much darker than what I usually watch, so I wasn't sure about it, but I hung on because the characters were interesting and I wanted to know more about them. And then... suddenly some of the characters were not okay, and I realized I was not okay if they were not okay, so I kept watching to find out what happened to them. And then season 2 brought in American authors and I died from laughing and got even more hooked on the characters. it was all up for me at that point. I had to suffer with them and hope they came out okay. Turns out this is a group you can believe in. So yes this is my second favorite anime of all time.

Season 4 and 5 made a huge jump in animation, dramatic moments and plot twists. Its VERY WORTH to watch it, but up until now it wasn't as popular in the west as it was in Japan. You could say that the first 3 Seasons were the build up for something that felt like a great finale. The openings don't really show much of the actual show, most scenes are meant metaphoric. I think the strongest point is that almost no character is wasted in the show, everyone gets their time to shine in the developement of the 5 seasons. Give it a try at least until the really good Season 2 😉 PS: You missed the "main" version for Opening 4 sadly and just watched the Pre-opening for the first flashback episodes ^^"

You know what, in December I was asked by my brother what's my anime of the year, and I said for me it must be BSD S5, because I've not watched Frieren. But ut turned out BSD really came out as the winner, not really expecting it but surprised indeed

bsd is my top 3 fave anime ever. i think its openings and endings are soooo aestetically pleasant (also the anime itself is pure art in that sense, they make some scenes sooooo beautiful). i personally prefere the endings, especially the first 3 (the 1st is soooo good i cried), they have such a meaning and they make my heart ache.

Controversial opinion but for me JJK at #7 was about right. Take away the animation quality and the plot is pretty bland. On the other scale Vinland Saga s2 was too low. Would have put it at #2 above aot A week was too long to wait for each new episode of BSD5. The animation and writing and character development was top notch.

I'm not hating or trying to cause controvercy but Bungo Stray Dogs is not the offfical "Anime Of The Year". Bungo won this title with Anime Corner which is a somewhat well-known anime comminity page but doesn't hold any offical status. The offical Anime Awards were held by Crunchyroll in Tokyo last weekend with the winner being Jujutsu Kaisen to many fans exitement. I absolutely LOVE Bungo and I ever much enjoy the anime but I can't sit here and say that is is objectively better than something like Jujutsu which was very much deserving of this award! Just thought i'd clear that up because I saw alot of people online sayibg Bungo won the anime of the year when technically it isn't. 🙏❤

Crunchyroll's awards aren't official either, they have always been a popularity contest and they hold no credibility in the anime community. And you can't be objective with things like this. In my opinion BSD S5 was miles ahead of JJK S2 and I love both franchises too.

Come on. Not Crunchyroll. It doesn't include Fall anime season every year. The anime of the "year" award is not valid without including that year's Fall season lmao. Even yuri and female biased page like Anime Trending awards are much better. Anime Corner has many shounen and romance fans. Despite that, BSD won it which is a very good season (s5) and really deserved.
