@@cjexplores Can't wait for the winter to roll in so I can finally hit the road and drive across the Nullarbor Plain in Australia! 😄 open landscape stretching out before you, the red earth contrasting with the clear blue sky. It's going to be an adventure of a lifetime, with remote towns to explore and breathtaking views of the Southern Ocean. Sure, there'll be long stretches of road with nothing but nature around, but that's all part of the charm and excitement.

Back in 1980 I hitched from Sydney to WA. I got stuck in Port Augusta where I slept by the roadside. The following morning a 1964 Jag pulled up, having seen my cardboard sign for Perth. On the advice of others, I checked that was his destination which it was, and got in. Together we shared the driving across the long but beautiful Nullabor. One thing that has always stayed with me, is that I would drive at night with the headlights on full. Upon seeing another vehicle's lights, I would dip them....... only to wait minutes before I drove past the oncoming vehicle ! The Nullabor is a unique place and I'm pleased I discovered it.

Upon reaching Nullarbor, Australia, by road, I would definitely consider using a helicopter service for the return journey to civilization because I wouldn't be able to relive the long journey in the same way. 😂
@cjexplores9 ай бұрын
Haha you could definitely fly back, Perth Sydney/Melbourne

I bet you regret not having the equipment to film the milky way. 4 trips across the Nullabour it was the stars and the whales at the head of the night, epic that stays in my mind.

Sounds amazing. We could have put more effort in for filming this but I think we were pretty exhausted from the drive 😂

This is a easy trip I crossed it when it was just a two track dirt road, if someone came from the other direction one of you would have to pull over and let the other person go first.

I think I’ve seen pictures of when it was like that, incredible! Very easy now, you’re right 😉 especially with air con and cruise control

Or WA! All States have various requirements. Australia is a country, sort of. It is actually a Federation of States who can implement their own laws.

And Perth is still classes as a regional city not a capital city so until recently and even though paying 15 -20% on goods brought from the East we only received 15% of the GST and that's against contributing 42% of the nation's wealth. Regardless still the best state to live in.

the Nullarbor is not a desert and it’s not a crazy trip, it is a beautiful trip! Jeez the terms we use these days.
@cjexplores Жыл бұрын
It felt like a desert! It was pretty wild for us, but I think you're right. Our quest for the biggest most exciting story has lead to the dilution of value in our day to day language

Really enjoyed it. I am looking to do this drive too but dont have anyone to join me :) did you guys hire a car from Perth? if so can we have the drop off point in Adelaide or Sydney?
@cjexplores2 жыл бұрын
Thanks GK, you absolutely can rent a car and drop off in a different location 😉 you may have to pay a one way relocation fee. But, just as I write this I remember using a service where we were actually assisting the rental companies to relocate their vehicles. It was called Transfercar I think and you could get Campervans from one location and relocate it to a place where the car company needs it more. You usually got it for free or very cheap and just have to cover fuel.
@geerthan0072 жыл бұрын
@@cjexplores wow, thats very helpful. I will keep looking as they dont have anything from perth-sydney or vice versa.
@cjexplores2 жыл бұрын
@@geerthan007 usually it’s in the opposite direction of the most common travel routes. For example, a lot of travellers fly into Sydney, where they rent a van and head north all the way to Cairns, so often they need relocations from Cairns to Sydney. Try googling vehicle relocations australia, there might be some other companies looking. Also you could try the hire companies own websites. Hertz, Apollo, Wicked Campers etc

I can't handle the constant panning when trying to look at your roof top camper. Keep the camera still. Point the camera at the subject, showing a new camper is not a selfie opportunity. Less ego, more doco.!

Sorry about that! Was a bit of a last minute idea and we didn’t plan this one particularly well!
