Uncle Jesse - aka John Stamos was an "honorary Beach Boy" when I saw them perform with him in concert in the early 90's. He wasn't there for the classic 60's songs but they brought him out to play drums on this song and as I recall he stayed for others and did an amazing drum solo. And I want whatever evil magic keeps him, Tom Cruise and Elizabeth Shue from aging!!

This song appeared on the soundtrack to the hit movie, Cocktail starring Tom Cruise. The song went all the way to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 during the summer of 1988. This song was The Beach Boys' only #1 song of the 1980s. By the way, John Stamos toured with them during the summertime of 1988. Great song indeed!!!

When "Kokomo" reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1988 for 1 week, it set the record for the longest span between a band's last two #1s (1966's "Good Vibrations & 1988's "Kokomo"). They invited John Stamos to be an honorary member of "The Beach Boys" which is why the Beach Boys made an appearance on "Full House." Brian Wilson (ironically had no involvement with this song) is the father of Carnie & Wendy Wilson (two members of the group "Wilson Phillips" - the third member, Chynna Phillips, is the daughter of John & Michelle Phillips - of "The Mamas & The Paps")

You are right, and if you realize something , both songs are related to the beach in different Eras that define beach customs. "Good Vibrations" with the surf lifestyle in California in the 60s and "Kokomo" with the Caribbean lifestyle with luxurious Resorts and palm trees in the 80s.This band lives up to its name:The Beach Boys.

Stamos appeared in the video for “Kokomo” even though he didn’t expect to. “We were doing a special and the main thing was we were doing a version of ‘Wipeout’ with the Fat Boys, who were a rap group,” Stamos told The Birmingham News. At the time, Stamos and The Beach Boys stayed at a Disney resort called Grand Floridian. They were the resort’s first guests.

This is from the late 80s, a time of change for the band. Brian Wilson, the real brains behind the group, had left, & his brother, Dennis, the drummer, had died. The rest of the Boys got back together with, yes, John Stamos on drums - he was a huge fan & long-time fan. This tune was from the soundtrack for a Tom Cruise film, 'Cocktail'. Yes that's John Stamos on playing with the Beach Boys he plays with them when they need him too. They appeared on full house so many times cause of how close they are with John Stamos. John Stamos said this : Mike Love turns to my friend and says, ‘Who’s that?’ And he says, ‘That’s John Stamos; he’s on General Hospital and always has girls chasing him.’ And Mike Love, without missing a beat, says, ‘Get him onstage.'”

This song is from the movie Cocktail and was a huge, huge hit when it came out in 1988. I remember hearing Casey Kasem say during the Weekly Top 40 Countdown that because of this song people were trying to book holidays to this place called Kokomo. There is a Kokomo, IN but sadly there’s no real island destination called Kokomo. And I’ve never seen Cocktail, but I still keep this song on my playlists. I may have to put the movie on the list, too! Edit: See, this is the cool thing about your community-I have seen this video about a hundred times and never knew that was John Stamos!

Very big hit in the '80s. This and Wipeout(fat boys) help them to hit on the charts for the '80s. Fun fact it was the Beach boys that actually started the acid Rock or hippie Rock in the sixties. They and the Beatles were so much influenced and rivals against each other they started taking it up a notch. And rock was never the same... Out with the teenie bop Rock, in with the deep meaning classics.. so influence that a lot of the blues artists became rockers. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin.. etc.... And yes uncle Jess was a beach boy drummer for the '80s. Lol

John Stamos actually played with them earlier than 1993. On July 4th 1990 I was in Presque Isle Maine and they did a concert at the fairgrounds. We were shocked to see that Brian Wilson was actually touring with them as he didn't really tour much at the time.. then to see John Stamos playing drums was wild. Then they kicked it up a notch and when they started singing Surfer Girl , Paula Abdul (who was dating John Stamos at the time) came out on stage and started dancing with Mike Love... Until Stamos tapped him on the shoulder and cut in. One of my favorite concerts ever!

Stamos was a friend and sometime drummer with the group on special occasions. Durinng this video he just happened to be there at the resort where they were filming so he got asked to be in it. This was one of their biggest hits and in my opinion one of their best songs especially since it was later in their career.

The Beach Boys appeared on an episode of Full House. John Stamos got friendly with the band and was invited to play along on some of their live performances. Tom Cruise is there via clips from his movie Cocktail, which this song was in.

really dig how in the INTRO where it lists vacation spots, they suddenly drop that and cut into a nice flowering musical line: wow that's really hip and useful to move the song immediately forward.

Guys, check out the Beach Boys song 'That’s Why God Made the Radio', it's from 2012 (!) and it sounds as if they wrote it in the sixties. Astounding. I really think they're immortal.

Beachboys are my favorite Ever!! Beach grandpas, now. The Beatles got some of their ideas from the Beachboys. The 2 band were good friends. Yes, John Stamos played the drums, for a while after Dennis died(the middle brother). Baby brother Carl, sang lead on most of these songs. He had the voice of an angel. Brian Wilson was the genius of geniuses!

John Stamos (Uncle Jessie) started his acting career in 1982 on the soap opera General Hospital, and in 1985 he started touring with The Beach Boys and continued to do so into the early '90s. He's performed on and off with them since them, the latest time being at a benefit concert just three months ago. He's obviously a man of many talents.

The Beach Boys are my favorite band I have seen them like 10 times for the 80’s into the 2000’s. I was a the first concert that John join them there was a writers strike going on in Hollywood so he came to play. New Jersey at the Garden in 87. I had a to do a double take because I couldn’t believe my eyes.

Yea, John Stamos plays with The Beach Boys. Stamos has occasionally performed in concert with The Beach Boys, dating back to 1985, typically playing drums and various other percussion instruments. In 1988, he appeared in their video for "Kokomo", in which he played both the conga drums and the steel drums. In 1990, he played drums for them on the title track of the comedy Problem Child and also appeared in the song's music video. In 1992, he sang lead vocals on a new version of "Forever" for their album Summer in Paradise. The song was originally written and sung by Beach Boy Dennis Wilson and released in 1970. The song was also featured twice on Full House. The first was a recording sung at his character's wedding, while the second was a recording sung for his character's twin sons. The 1992 music video, titled "Forever by Jesse and the Rippers," featured Stamos predominantly. However, three of The Beach Boys members are briefly shown singing harmonies with Stamos: Carl Wilson, Bruce Johnston, and Mike Love.

Loved your reaction to my all time favourite Beach Boys song! My next Beach Boys suggestion would be "Wouldn't It Be Nice". The song will forever remind me of the show "The Wonder Years" (it featured in an episode). Speaking of, I believe you have already reacted to Joe Cocker's cover of "With A Little Help From My Friends", which ended up being the theme song for the show.
