Hi Hannah, love your channel. If I could make one suggestion, a roller stand for your miter saw. That way the off cuts won't fall and you won't have to try to catch them. The motion of catching them brings your hand and arm across the blade path. I know there's a guard but I've seen many accidents over 30+ years of being a trim/ finish carpenter. Also it keeps the wood from getting dinged up if it falls. If you have a P.O. box, I'll gladly send you one. Sorry for the unsolicited advice, but the carpenter and dad in me had to give it. 😉

I used to live in an apartment in a very old house that was heated with a wood stove and we bought some briquettes for winter (one for each cold day) and for the night we wrapped one in a thick layer of newspaper (I know young people don't have newspapers anymore but you might know some old folks who can give you their old newspapers) and put the wrapped briquette on the embers of the wood and it would slowly burn over night not as hot as wood and still have some left to spark the fire again in the morning. So our apartment would not be totally chilling when we woke up. Just a handy tip for the cold nights with a wood burning stove.

I agree...ideally use a barrier which allows water in the form of vapour to pass through...but not water droplets. Houses gots ta breathe!
@Rotten63 жыл бұрын
I live in Alberta, and we use 6 mil poly for vapour barrier. We also acoustic seal around the edges and double studs and seams to maximize seal and prevent air leakage. The biggest issue with condensation, is if you double vapour barrier. One on the outside and one on the inside, locking moisture in the wall.

Never mind the wood snobs! I was one of those when I renovated my cottage 20yrs ago. Wooden interiors become oppressive as they darken with age which is further compounded by unfinished wooden furniture. I've been gradually painting these past few years. Falling in love with white painted timber is progressive, and it creates the perfect canvas for showcasing the individual pieces of unfinished timber such as beams, rafters and table-tops. A home is a living space and reflective light is an important natural element for good mental health. Paint your timber girl....even prehistoric man (but probably woman cuz man was off hunting 🤷♀️) painted their caves. By the way, this is the perfect time of year for insulation work as dirty cramped roof spaces are a more of a nightmare to work in swealtering weather. Well done on your progress. PS Can we have more segments with Molly's audio choices? It's nice to have segments with continuity sound as a contrast to the 'copyright violation avoidance' compilations.

I wouldn't use that as a closet, it would be my cozy bed nook!

I love how happy he makes you. So glad you have good company and support there. Even those little errands like picking up paint help so much!

Hannah Lee! What I've seen others do when dealing with something like this - put down a tarp, then all the debris will fall into the tarp, making it easier to shift to the trash. Wonder if this might work for you?

I think your place is so magical in the all the other seasons, but what a beautiful wonderland it is in the snow! And that lightening storm!! Absolutely magical! ❤️💖 What happened to the Land Rover? I would think it would be handy up there. I have to say that it's pretty impressive that you get cell and wifi at your place! Thanks for the glimpse into your world ❤️🚙🇨🇦
