A big rummage sale, a surprise find at the bottom of a bag that I bought for a little more than 25 cents. Love finding vintage smalls!

Civil War diaries? Have you thought about volunteering to work the rummage sale? That way you get first dibs. Plus you would make a passel of new friends with a potential for house clean outs etc. Wowzers. I can truly see that marketing to children really, really worked.

That sale is at an extremely large church....not sure if they do the same as others in the area...only church members are allowed to work them.

I absolutely LOVE how excited that you got when you found the ring in the bag. The expression on your face is wonderful !! When I was helping 2 friends of mine clean out a bunch of abandoned Flea Market Shops and they wanted to pay me, but I didn't want money I just wanted a few things at the end of each day. I showed them "my little hoard", they were amazed at the things that I wanted. Just little pieces of JUNK as they called it that they would have throw in the trash. But that little stuff (like your ring) is what makes me happy!!

That's why, though sometimes I feel overwhelmed, I remind myself that while people collect/sell similar things, we each have our own things that we find that we consider treasures while others would have no interest at all.

@@PaperandMoose It took us 2 months, working 7 days a week to get those shops cleaned out. They both keep telling me to take something that was worth something. Those little treasures most likely had no monetary value, but all the trinkets ( as they called them) made me happy! I still have most all of them. I know that you understand!!

It is hard to imagine that one organization can collect that much stuff every year for a rummage sale so it is easy to see how shopping there could be overwhelming. Even though you didn't buy a lot you got some great things and I love watching your reaction when you see something in the bag of goodies that you were not expecting. I hope you went back for a second look so there will be another fun video to follow. Thanks for sharing!

As to the rabbit, "Blessed are the cracked, for they let in the light." I think it's great that you give the things you buy - and those you don't - human characteristics. The sad crocheted rabbits, for example. My antique clocks, trunks, lamps, instruments, photos, elephants, etc. sit around and talk at night. Swapping stories. Calling each other out. Every time I bring something new in, it's anxious for a few days but eventually becomes a part of the group. If only I could hear the tales they are telling. Because, in addition to relating fascinating history, I'm sure they're not above exaggerating for effect - and I'm sure they wouldn't let facts get in the way of a good yarn. So, educational and entertaining. After all, "Stories only happen to them who can tell them."

It'd make a great story, to base it on an antique or thrift store and the items talk to one another There's always that one item that is a little damaged and never gets adopted, until the end of the story, when someone like Renee comes in and sees the beauty in the flaws!

@@lisagrafton2529 ha ha also sounds like the story of how I came to be married. A sorry stuffed animal saved during a trash bag reveal. In fact (and I am not making this up), when we’d been married several years I asked my wife what her initial impression of me was. She said, “A stumpy gorilla.” Twenty-nine years later and I’m still here though. Under the tatters and grime I’m a quality piece. If I do say so myself :).

Hi love your videos. Re the open mouthed green man @ 19:20 was a little puzzle for kids. The mouth contained a shiny ball bearing the trick was to remove the ball bearing using a thumb & index finger…can’t be done because of natural oily skin! You have to rub your fingers vigorously on your sleeve or skirt etc to remove all traces and then it’s easy to lift it from his mouth. I had one of these as a child, I’m now 70 yrs in UK. Think I was about 6 or 7 took me ages to work it out, guess my parents were happy that it kept me busy for a while 😉😀.

John Adams is part of the Marx Presidents set. The early figures came unpainted the later ones were painted. The painted figures were made in Hong Kong and most bare plastic figures were US made. If I’m not mistaken, they made them from the mid 1950s until some time in the 1970s. They were sold as a set and individually. The last President to be added was LBJ. Cool finds! I'm not an expert on men's vintage hats, but I believe that's a boater. They were common summer hats for men around the turn of the century. (Think of Bert in his picnic clothes in Mary Poppins.) The one you have is pretty small, it may be for a youth. I think it depends on quality, and the size may not help you, but in my area, even damaged ones sell much higher than I'd expect (like $40 and UP!) Great finds! Thanks for sharing them!

That sale looked like so much fun! I'm sorry there wasn't more vintage holiday decor for you to rummage through. Glad the mystery bag turned out to have a few hidden gems. I love when your face lights up with joy. Oh the little things like plastic rings that make the trip worth it.

Love your excitement! I am so glad you got a hidden treasure. You are so lucky. I do have the Halloween pumpkin from Avon. I love the yellow and white whistle. I would love to purchase it! I hang them on my Xmas tree.

Never heard of H R Puff & Stuff? But growing up in rural Ontario, we only got 3 channels, most of the time, 2 lots of the time, 1 almost always & 4 occasionally. Dad sometimes listened to the hockey game on one, without the picture coming in. The hat reminds me a bit of Anne of Green Gables, but she had a different ribbon. Well, glad you found some treasure! 👍💍👍

Hi I love your site. Today I had a pleated piece of material and you thought it had to do some thing with a bra believe that’s what she said. It’s a cumber bun. With something that we were at the waist to put our top and our skirt together. Not terribly important just thought you’d like to know. Men use them for Tuxes. Thanks so much for what you do. I try never to miss your videos.

I don’t like dealing with the crowds and anxiety of opening time at a sale. So now, instead of being one of the people rushing in at the start and competing for the first finds, I show up later, when there are no crowds and the prices are often reduced. Lots of time to leisurely look at everything and hunt out the treasures others left behind.

The little green guy might be a Nabisco one?? There are so many Nabisco 'spoon sitters' and 'plate hangers' as well as rings etc for sale on line, I would be buying every mixed bag of characters just in case. And so much social history attached to them. A wee piece of white air dried clay would fix the chip on the rabbit with nothing else needed to paint or glue. You just clean the surface and apply the clay. Lovely stuff you found but a shame you didn't find what you set out for. Enjoy your summer days, we have had the first snow for the winter here in southern New Zealand.

Hello to New Zealand! I'll have to check out all the cereal premiums online, I might be able to identify some of the little ones I picked up!

So many of the little toys you pulled out of the bag I played with as a child. Some came out of cereal boxes....fond memories 😃
