Fun fact: Mark Jansen from Epica sent Fleshgod Apocalypse two song ideas and asked them on which one they want to work on together. FA combined both and sent it back and then they worked from there. Awesome song!

Epica has an album/ep called The Alchemy Project where every song is a collaboration with other bands/artists.

Symphonic Death Metal is the best genre. I will die on this (totally opinion) hill.

Usually a bit too simplistic the composition for my tastes. But lots of great songs in the genre for sure and I like the drive Fleshgod adds to Epica's style here. This is a banger with great contrast. I'd suggest some Mechina if you like symphonic stuff. They're classified as industrial death metal but have some very symphonic elements and very cool storytelling. Cheers

this song is from the latest EP “The alchemy project”, where each song is a collaboration, I highly recommend you listen to it, it’s awesome, and the most interesting thing about this EP is that almost all the songs have a different sound and style, they really managed to surprise the fans, Epica erases all boundaries and goes all out, mixing different styles of heavy music. From Disney ballad and old prog rock to grindcore 😆 There are only 7 songs on this EP, but you will hear many musicians such as Charlotte Wessels (Delain), Tommy Karevik (Kamelot), Asim Searah (wintersun), Myrkur, the vocalist of Insonmium (I don’t remember the name), vocalist of Soilwork, guys from God Dethroned, powerwolf and others. One of the songs will have a great unexpected twist, it’s called “the final lullaby” 🎷 You won’t hear this anywhere else in the sympho metal genre, unfortunately, because few people are capable of such experiments (unfortunately 😩)

I am a fan of symphonic metal and there are many great bands in the genre, but Epica is head and shoulders above all of the others in inventiveness and pushing the boundaries of the music. They seem to be fearless in terms of what they will try. Nightwish does this kind of thing too and I am a fan of that band, but nobody does it like Epica.

I can never get enough of the mix of cleans and growls. They always sound so good together. This was intense, just a punch in the face from the get-go. I enjoyed this all around. I hope your well Tommy.

It’s funny, but I suddenly realized that I can already distinguish between the growls of different vocalists; in this song I can clearly hear where the vocalist of Fleshgod apocalypse is growling, and where the vocalist of Epica is growling. For someone it will all sound the same and they will not understand that there is more than one person growling here, but I can hear it clearly 😁

What you said in the end reminds me of something I read in a favourite book of mine: the first step is important, but the one after is the most important. Always the next step. I'm paraphrasing here, I don't have it on hand, but I hope it's understandable. Keep taking that next step, everyone. Also, Epica featuring Asim Searah and Niilo Sevänen - "The Miner". It's from the same collab EP and will blow your mind.
