Next time just start lying to people that start asking you unsettling questions. Say you’re here to visit your boyfriend, the neighbor is your best friend, your group of friends are waiting for you in the house and play videos of people talking.

I travel solo around the US and outside of the US. I don’t feel comfortable with cab drivers asking me all the kinds of questions you mentioned. I’ve found that when these cab situations arise, I say I can’t hear them. I tell them my ears are ringing b/c of the travel. I know it isn’t the best solution, but it gets them to stop talking to me. I also wear a fake wedding ring. I’m sorry you had to go through this, thanks for sharing. I love traveling, I’m not going to stop. Safe travels to everyone 🫶

Never feel guilty for trying to survive. It’s better to be dramatic than dead. I used to feel guilt over stuff like that too but not anymore. People are crazy no matter how much we want to see the good in others. I’ve had bad experiences just living where I live and traveling around as a woman. What I do is low-stakes lie. Say things like “oh I’m actually meeting up with friends who are waiting for me. My significant other gets worried when I’m late, etc.” Stay safe

I think #1, focus on the fact that you’re ok, and in a more comfortable situation. Then, you’ve learned you don’t want to be in a remote place alone. That was a new feeling for you. Plus, you hurt yourself, and weren’t feeling well. This was a combination of destabilizing factors. That’s not your typical experience. You followed your gut, and you’re safe! Well done! 👏🏾

MISAKO! Super grateful you’re ok. Excellent job being so brave and getting yourself out of there and somewhere you felt safer! Also the fact that you were proactive in locking all the windows beforehand is something not everyone would do and it sounds like it was 100% the right decision. Try not to get down on yourself for not checking off a few other things on the proverbial solo travel safety list. You had just gotten there and were still trying to adjust to your new environment. Something in my gut says you made all the right choices when listening to your intuition to get in contact with some loved ones, grab your stuff and go asap! Especially after that uncomfortable situation with the driver. Finally, since sometimes taking personal weapons like pepper spray or a taser can be prohibited on flights, I like to take a whistle with me or a giant metal water bottle then once you land and get acclimated you could buy a cheap personal weapon somewhere. There are also personal alarms I’ve seen before but haven’t actually used. You did everything right and responded the best way you could in that moment and youre here to tell the tale! I think you dropped this 👑💕 Also, for any other fellow solo female travelers out there. Know it’s ok to make up a story or flat out lie if needed to protect yourself! We really never know what someone plans to do with the info we share. We don’t have to be totally rude (i wouldn’t recommend being very rude because it could put you in an even tougher spot if the man has a wild temper) to someone but it’s ok to be firm in saying, “I’m not alone but I’m not really comfortable sharing those details with a stranger.” Then you can Segway into trying to ask more questions about the local culture or the area you’re in or something to lighten the mood. It’s also ok to say, yep my friend is waiting for me or my boyfriend is meeting me in a little bit. (Y’all can be meeting on a phone call but they don’t need to know all that lol)!

Give yourself grace as you process this experience 💜 In other creeper news, I was walking down the street and this guy walked up on me asking me all kinds of questions in this low voice (are you single? Do you live alone? Do you smoke weed? Etc.) I was like 👀👀👀 He asked for my IG I saw that all his recs and feed was female model types. Super sketch. I just share that to say the creeps be creepin. Misako, you made it through this set of awful situations. Very glad you are safe!!! I'm not a professional but what you are describing in the end - that you stay in and don't eat - really sounds like a response to a traumatic experience (which is SO logical in the given circumstances!!). I hope you have people or maybe a mental health specialist to talk it through deeply. Please don't take the responsibility for that crazy noises from the window. You were not making them. Period. And you saved yourself from that situation which is the most important

No but why did I go flying off a scooter the first time I tried too? It was sooooo heavy and zooming along. I tried to slow down but I was on an angle at the top of a hill and when I tried to grip the handle so the bike didn't fall over I revved the engine. Please note that thing went flying into the air into an intersection. Luckily I was already off of it so didn't get injured but I was shaken for hours!! I'm so glad you did what you gut was telling you! I'm certain so many of us have done somewhere traveling that later we were like - bish what were you thinking 😩 People really don't seem to understand how uncomfortable those questions are especially when you're in a car with them with nowhere to escape to. It'll likely take some days to regulate again ❤ Hope you can get back to feeling easeful, and safe soon.

You're one of the people that have inspired me to make my dream come true about visiting Japan and I hope I manage to do it soon, at least for about 3 months. So glad you're okay! You were NOT being dramatic at all. You trusted your instincts and intuition and it probably saved your life. Always trust your instincts. It's so crappy that we women have to feel this way and move through the world on such high alert. When I travel solo, I feel like I have to play stupid games to stay safe. 1) I have a fake wedding ring that I slip on when riding in cabs or in a questionable place. 2) I make a fake phone call from the cab saying something like "Hi babe, I'm on my way in the cab, see you in a few minutes". 3) I always book the hotel/Airbnb for a party of two, since it's typically the same price. 4) When I am checking in alone, I say my "husband, boyfriend, partner" is in a business meeting and will be along shortly. 5) I even make them give me two keys. I know this sounds ridiculously paranoid, but I think it might help me stay a bit more safe. I might be fooling myself, though!

Girl, all you need is a big azz frying pan and get under that window. Somebody tries to get it...whap! They'll think twice!! I suggest as a woman, you take a womans self defense class. Wether you're in the U.S. or abroad, it's important that you can defend yourself if needed. It will also boost your confidence! Anything can be used as a weapon. You have heel of your palm, your teeth, finger nails...girl you're already equipped. It's scary to be alone but if you believe in the Most High God, know that you are never alone! Go in confidence, you got this!!

Thank God you're okay. Sometime I traveled by myself and what I do, 1. never tell anyone taxi drivers, etc that I am alone, tell them you're with your brother, son, etc. 2. Stay in the city, especially first time in that country. 3. Book hotel or airbnb for about three days or so, if the area is not okay you can leave, but before you book a hotel or airbnb google to find out where tourist normally stay most times those are the safest areas. 4.Once you get to your location send pictures of where you're staying to family members or friends. Keep family members or friends up to date of your movements. Another thing you can do when booking reservation; make reservation for 2 people once you get there you can change to one person.

Write a note on the channel? There's many of us around the globe, in different time zones: if a few happen to be close to you locally, especially if they speak the language, you can then go into private messaging to give them the address/coordinates so they can call the police and send them to check on you? 🤔🫡 I know I would have your back if you were in Canada! 💪🏼❤

You can't plan for everything, and if anything, you proved that you can think on your feet. Please give yourself grace ❤ Safety comes first, but safety is relative and dynamic. You learned what safety means to you now, and I think a lot of learning is by doing not by preparing. You can plan a pretty picnic, but you can't predict the weather 🎶

Life is full of experiences that lead to learned lessons. Don't beat yourself up for listening to your gut. I'm glad you did, and I'm also glad that Energi was there for you when you needed her. 💜

Greatful that you are ok. I realize I am just a complete stranger but still I wish you could find a travel friend/ a partner. It makes a huge difference to travel with a close friend

Please don't feel bad, guilty, or even stupid about your decision to leave! You followed your gut feeling and got out of a situation that made you feel extremely uncomfortable. I'm glad you're safe, and I hope you will feel better soon. I hope this doesn't ruin the rest of your trip and you'll feel more comfortable to get out of your room and enjoy what Thailand has to offer. I hope you get some food, feel rested mentally and physically, and enjoy the remainder of your trip! Stay safe lovely!

Solo travel is as safe as you make it. Meaning if you wouldn’t do it normally, I wouldn’t advise to do it. Never give out your personal information to strangers. Lessons learned- luckily you are ok.

Hey, sis. riding a scooter is really fun and exciting, I ride motorbikes. Go onto KZbin and watch videos of people teaching others how to ride a scooter. I'm glad you listened to your gut feeling and got out of there, to where you felt safe and secure. My suggestion is to go on excursions, where there are other people.

Thank God you are ok. I've watched Energi's channel. I'm glad she comforted you. Last year I was about to go on a solo trip in Europe. I stopped at a "friends" house in NY. They convinced me to go ride on electric bikes. I do normal slow bike riding but had never been on an ebike or scooter. I felt great during the ride but hit something in the street and went flying off. I hit my face and whole left side on the street. Ambulance had to come and all. My friend never arrived at the hospital and I was alone. I've never been in an accident before and didn't want to wake my Mom because it happened late at night. Anyways, I was able to get an emergency flight back to my state with wheelchair assistance. I did it just in time because it took months for me to regain my full walking capabilities. I'm so thankful it happened within the USA and not when I would have been overseas alone. At any time things can go wrong. All we can do is to keep praying for God's protection. 🙏🏾

I've traveled the world as a solo traveler. You were right to trust your gut. Also, as you indicated, you must err on the side of caution and not book places in remote areas especially when you are alone. Additionally, never say you are alone. My "boyfriend, husband or friends" are always waiting for me. Finally, I never say how long I'm going to be there. Don't let this sour your solo traveling experience. Learn from this as you indicated in the video but keep living life to the fullest.

I'm so glad you're safe and that you listened to your 'gut'. No you weren't being dramatic. And even IF it wasn't a person trying to enter, this occurrence is a learning experience that will protect you in the future. Anything can happen anywhere. There are good people in the world, but there are also many evil people and some are living under the guise of being good, friendly people. So, if something seems off, listen. Also, your testimony could save others so thanks for sharing!

This exact same thing happened to my partner. He was riding there with his friends (in the north of Thailand) and it was getting dark and they got to a shitty gravel road. His guts told him to turn back to the hostel but he kept going and slammed himself to the floor. For the entire time he was there, he could not go into water because of the injuries. Lucky for him he is a man, and he was with a group of friends.Be careful out there ❤
