get quite a few of these , i personally dont use chipboard but thick ply as ive seen too many collapse due to prolonged leaks chipboard turns to weetabix great vid keep them coming
@bluebulldog_uk4 ай бұрын
Yeah some hardwood ply would of been better but was easier to get the loft boards in loft due to size of hatch, could of cut them down I suppose 👍

I do my upmost to avoid working in lofts when it’s warm. Genuinely isn’t safe on a hot day. Can be 35+ degrees mid summer
@bluebulldog_uk4 ай бұрын
I think if it was the day before I would of moved the job as it was right when it was 28/29°c which would of been near enough impossible to work

Coffin tanks are excellent for fitting ...keep the holes nice n' tight...used to fit loads of these back in the day....all had pull out standing wastes { great for quick emptying of tank for cleaning etc }...Silencer on main at entry for ballcock { just use a "tee " & a blank end...stops the " shuddering " if pressure is high....the tanks I was replacing were the old lead lined ones ...strap solder joints....big brass " gunmetal " valves...great days !! { Sat morn Scrap runs £££ } used the timber from old tank for new base{ Canadian redwood mostly}...stick a lever valve on that feed to cyclinder next time son....well done !!

Are you in Scotland ? I'm from Southern England but spent some time working around the Glasgow area 30 odd years ago with my Father. What you describe there is exactly how i remember the water tanks up there.

I like that idea of the silencer 👍 lever valve yes would have been future proof to be fair. Sounds like good times with the scrap mate 😂👍👍

May I suggest you do voice overs when inside roof spaces with all that dust and insulation particles, so you can where a mask.

What is all the pipes again couldn't hear properly
@bluebulldog_uk4 ай бұрын
Cold feed to cylinder first one, cold fill with the ball cock, the pipe connected 22mm to top of tank was the vent pipe and last one connected was overflow
@stephengunner3047Ай бұрын
Nice job but there is no way I would be using a blowlamp in a loft in 2024. The job doesn't have to be super neat in a loft and the customer wouldn't know the difference no matter what fittings you use. I know that end feed fittings are much cheaper but surely press-fit would be the best solution in this instance.
